There is a vast selection of toys here. It's like Toys R Us gone Street market style. Both sides of the street are jam packed with toys store. Even the both sides of the actual street has toys stalls. It's like going to a huge wet market but for toys. Now I would say around 80% of the toys are "China" branded toys. Some shops not stalls will carry international brands, you just have to find them. "China" brands have come a long way and their quality has improved by leaps and bounds. Yet, they remain extremely competitive. The shops that also carry international brands sell those toys cheaper than normal retail toy shops. But you do need to shop around for the best prices. I would recommend walking around during week days by yourself to get a general feel of the place. Also, take note of the shops you are interested in. Then bring the kids on the weekend. Be very very careful. On weekends it is worst than any wet market in Hong Kong. The sheer number of people is amazing. That's is why you need to come and review on a weekday. But be quick they close early, around 8pm. Also, note that it is still a busy road with lots of cars passing through. Don't let your kids go to crazy and keep a tight reign on them. In the mean time enjoy, I know...
Read moreThis place seems a little less busy and less stores and stalls than I last visited, which were ten years ago. However, it is still a great place to purchase toys and stationery bits.
Toys ranges from Gundams, cute Hello kitty toys, Lego, and some basic generic toys. There is something for all ages and the prices are very reasonable and it's cheaper than going to the plazas to buy the same products. Some products you find in the plaza shopping centres you probably can find here and for a better price.
Plus, this street is close to other stalls and markets, which will keep everyone busy browsing and eating street food. There is a lot to do here. My children five and seven found it overwhelming with the amount of toys to choose from, and I wouldn't recommend having a pram. I'm not saying you can't, but it can be tight sometimes.
Because of how busy it can get, the best time to would be a weekday.
You can easily spend here and other markets nearby for hours on end and looking for a bargain. As these places also welcome bulk buys.
It is definitely a place to visit if you are coming...
Read moreI visit this street every time I come to Hong Kong. The shops may seem really overwhelming at first but each shop has its own specialty and collection, depending on the season you are visiting.
The shops sell both toys, accessories, knick-knacks and festive decorations. My last visit was a month before Chinese New Year and the shops were filled with CNY decor. Fret not, you can still find the collection of toys etc inside the shops.
This place is recommended for building block toys (i.e. lego compatible toys and figurines at a fraction of the normal price back in Singapore at least), collectible figurines, novelty toys and interesting knick-knacks. If you're an expat looking to decorate your house for the festive season - this place is a must-visit. The decor sell at a quarter of the usual prices in town.
You'll find awesome food places...
