A stop by the Grand Prix Museum (free entry) is always a great way to spend 30 minutes or so when visiting Macau and is there any better time to visit then during Grand Prix weekend? We stopped by during the midday race intermission last weekend and, as usual, just loved looking over these fantastic race cars. They are so photogenic and nice to see. It doesn’t hurt that this museum is free to visit but I often wonder if visiting this museum will ever grow old. In addition to more recent cars that performed here in Macau, there are some historical cars that saw time on the Guia course as well as a couple classic streetcars. We love the nice Ford Model T. Interestingly, we found that the (free) Wifi Go was carrying a much stronger signal and was much faster than during past visits. This was a nice little discovery made during our last trip to the Grand Prix Museum. In our opinion, the Grand Prix Museum is a top five museum and makes an easy inclusion on your to do/see list of attractions for Macau, even for those on the shortest of trips to the city. You can make your was here quite easily from the main ferry terminal, just 8-10 minute away. Also, you can visit the Wine Museum which is just across the hall way from the Grand Prix Museum, this is another good way to spend 30 minutes or so and enjoy a bit of wine tasting while in the city.

The GP Museum is a 4-storey building housing an important collection in Macau racing history-- racing automobiles and motorcycles, images, and wax dolls of champion drivers. It explains the different eras, the lead racers, and contributors. What makes it extraordinary is the pseudo museum exposure. Simulation cars or motorcycles are available to try, and it shall bring you to the Guia circuit, a surreal experience. The simulations in riding, driving, or competition are available for different ages. Guided tours are also available in Cantonese and English. Our tour guide,Jose, is very informative and told not only the old stories but also updates on F3 racing. A short film is also showcased at the end of the tour. A Lego racing car model of over 300,000 pieces is part of the exhibit. This museum is highly recommended if you are visiting Macau.

The museum is very educational and a bit interactive . Very recommendable for all ages especially for those car fanatic . We were warmly accommodated at the entrance by a Portuguese man and explained all the details of what’s inside the museum . We enjoyed walking around and taking photos . But one thing I just didn’t like was the working etiquette and attitude of the staffs. It seems like they don’t appreciate that someone is visiting the museum . They have the poker face , looks so serious , and they look very intimidating instead of entertaining guests , some others where just busy holding their phone , and when we were about to try the machine and stuffs on their area they will just simply walk away and seems like giving a command that they are not interested to promote those things to their guest . Very disappointing!!! For a museum like this we expect someone who is pro active , jolly , friendly to their guests. I appreciate more the security guards standing there and even ask us how we like the museum , is it our first time or which nation we are came from … but for those staff assigned on each interactive machine inside , I don’t feel and see any interesting to promote the place where they are working …. They were just standing there like a statue ! Tourism experience in this museum is NOT FUN at all not because of the display but the people inside .

Very disappointing. The museum itself is amazing based on the contents- very well maintained and nicely designed - could be an awesome experience if the staff just attempted to make an effort to welcome their customers. Warmly received by the person at the entrance who explained what to expect and the pit pass. But then you go through each level with what seems like an unwarranted number of security guards watching your every move (think that’s what they were since they said nothing) and that’s ok but felt uncomfortable. What’s not ok, is the sour attitude of the staff at the games. They were unfriendly, cold and just didn’t seem to want anyone to use the simulators- appeared to be too much of an effort for them. They just looked annoyed at being asked to do what they were there for. If you want to go to have a look at the exhibits, then would totally recommend it. BUT be warned, don’t expect to have fun or get a smile or assistance or any sort of conversation from the staff!

[Staff and Workers are absolutely horrible and disgusting conducts] Great place and full of history. However, so many horrible staff working in the space…. Front entrance staff were welcome and friendly. But the people who work at F3 section, are absolutely horrible. Zero customer service, they don’t want to speak English, they don’t want to speak Chinese, they only want to speak in Cantonese….. (don’t work at a tourist site then?…..) the male staff at the F3 simulation section was atrocious, lied about not able to speak Chinese & 5 seconds later spoke in fluent Chinese to another staff. RIDICULOUS! They get paid to work in full aircon space indoor, show some compassion about your job and work. Feels like half the workers don’t want to be there and going through the motion to pick up a check. Amazing experience, but slightly ruined by most the staff and workers. (Except front entrance)

This is a must go place if you are a fan for F1 racing, in the museum you can watch a 10 minutes video of the racing history, look at the famous racing cars and motor bikes. Apart from that, you an also experience in driving the racing car with other games. But you can only play once with the card. The price is different for local ($40) and tourists ($80). Can spend up to 2 hours in here, if you don't like to go to shopping or casino in Macau!
