Malama is one of the many publicly owned beaches on Cyprus. There is lounger hire, drinkable fresh water and a non-drinkable tap to rinse your feet under. With a bar, the Malama resort and a water sports place all on this small bay it has lost all of the natural charm it once had. It also gets very busy during the day, and doubly so at the weekends because it is also popular with the Cypriot people, it is their beach after all.

Having said that you can enjoy a peaceful morning swim in the clear blue water if you get up early. Most people come down after 8 to claim a lounger, but it's usually quiet up until then. I usually go for a short run before having a cooling swim to freshen up. Later in the day it will be busy.

If you're looking to just splash about or have some food and drink you're well catered for. The bar has a younger crowd than the resort. The beach is a mix of all ages, from 3 to 90 so it isn't a place to get drunk and loud. The locals will happily ask you to leave, they aren't shy. And, it is their...

This is a beautiful beach with crystal clear water. There is a cafe/bar run by a lovely crew who were really happy and chatty. The beach has a toy basket with buckets and spades to use and return which is great for the little ones. Clean toilets and a tap to wash your feet on the way out. There are turtles which visit the beach in the warmer months, apparently (may to September). There are a few caves over to the one side and a mermaid statue sunbathing on the rocks.

The only bad point was on arriving and making our way towards the water, I spotted a drug needle in the sand just before my little one was about to step on it. Having checked the area as best I could, I didn't see any more, but...

Very nice beach, especially for families. Nice clean sandy beach with plenty of facilities. Super clean water. Gentle slope of the seafloor. Free drinking water supplied by the local government to reduce the amount of used plastic bottles. Recycling station for your waste. Some umbrellas and sunbeds for rent but when we arrived around 11:00 none were available. Prices very reasonable: 7.50 for a set of two beds and one umbrella. Because of the orientation of this bay, the water is very calm and...

The beach is so cosy. It was quite crowded. The water is clear. Rather shallow. Perfect for young children. Caves near by looks beautiful. You can wash feet. There is refill water station. One restaurant Kohli with nice food next to the beach. Just been there on Sunday. Strongly do not recommend. So many people because it is Sunday even the water was not clean any longer. Hardly space on sand. In the water so many people. We been there maybe an hour and decided to leave. Sunday is not best time over a summer
