Oh oh..Many won't come back here.
We're concert/rockmusic lovers, so this was really a shock. But boy, this concert-room is poorly designed, there is NO SECURITY for the guests, unclear signs, and the sound quality was bad. It is clearly not made to give guests a nice music experience and many of them complained. Let me explain.
For the DAD & DML concerts expecting 16’000 guests, we arrive at 19.20 (concert starts at 20). There is one line of about 5000 people, yes there is only ONE possible door-entrance. At 19.57 we finally get through the 2 very small doors, where we witness that there are 2 guards who body-searches everybody (for the last 5000 people). At 20 we hear the concert starts, it doesn't say where / how to enter the concert room - and we are told the lockers are full, we are sent in-line for the traditional wardrobe (upstairs). We stand 30 MINUTES in a unsecured line (there are no rubans to keep a fair line, so it's become pure anarchy, as guests are panicking now, missing half the concert…..). We tried to get a hold of 3 guards who said they couldn't do anything about it cuz ...wait for it…: they don't have a radio! The guards ask us to find a guard with a radio.
When it's finally our turn to hand in our winter jackets we see the wardrobes staff is actually just ONE GUY for a hundred people….he tells us "sorry I can't take your winter jackets cuz we are out of HANGERS"...... wow IS THIS FOR REAL??? "well put it on your wardrobe floor" we say (we are 50 people still in line). Oh, well…so he did.
Through the ONLY ENTRANCE (small as well) which leads you inside the standing area (8000 standing people) a few hundred of us arrive in the concert room at 20:47. We make it into the front of the scene (took just 15 minutes) So basically, when you are inside the concert room and if there is a fire or an emergency, you will have to flee with 8000 people through the only existing door, if you can find it (no, there aren't any EXIT SIGN anywhere in this maze). Can we agree, that in almost concert rooms, there is at least 4 or 6 entrances?
Same if you need a WC, the toilets are only there at this one & only entrance, basically it's 30 toilets for 8000 people.
Anyway, now it's time for the Break, so at 21:30 there are about 4000 people who would like to go for a Smoke. They are led by one guard, towards 1 small door (the same door we got into the building from), led into a circle of barriers designed for perhaps 200 or 300 people.
It's no rocket science that this was a disaster, people couldn't get out / those who were finished smoking couldn't get inside. The one and only guard, nice guy, was continuously shouting to the smoking crowd that they should move further down, to give space for other entering guests.
Nobody moved, because seriously this is obviously becoming a farce: guests are trying to be patient despite this experience, and now they are being shouted at. His colleague panicked and she opened up another door, even though she was told not to.
To finish, when the concert was over at 00:00, guests stood in-line for 45 minutes to retrieve their jackets, as the same wardrobe guy as earlier that evening was receiving improvised help from 2 colleagues, alone in doing this job for a few 1000 people. In front of this wardrobe there were 2 elderly guards who had heard about the earlier chaos and therefore had installed a grid in order to keep a fair line, but turning their back to the drunk guys who got in a fist fight, they were staring into the wall peacefully while chaos was 3 meters behind them. They did nothing.
In conclusion this ARENA has a lovely outdoor design, but it's clearly not made for hosting a huge concert. Serious non-existent security, no exit signs, almost no toilets, almost no wardrobe, 1 small entrance to the ground floor, the staff is insufficient, not trained, and very underpowered. It's very concerning.
Can't believe that danish authorities gave them the green light to host...
Read moreI was supposed to attend the Pitbull concert at Royal Arena on 27.06 and had VIP tickets with the VIP lounge experience. I arrived two hours early, when the gates opened at 18:00, but quickly got confused about where to go. I asked three different staff members for directions, but each gave me a different answer and didnt bother to be interested to help me at all.
Eventually, I found the right gate, but when I arrived at the VIP entrance, I was turned away and told (in Danish) to go “somewhere over there.”without the workers even looking at my ticket nor letting me talk so I wandered around trying to find the VIP lounge, and when I finally did inside the Arena, I was denied entry even when i had my ticket and it clearly stated VIP lounge experiance. They asked which gate I entered through (Gate A) and told me it was the wrong one—so I couldn’t access the lounge, nor the VIP food, drinks, or gift I had paid 2,700 DKK for.
I was visibly upset and frustrated. I felt completely dismissed and unsupported, especially since no one offered help in English or made an effort to solve the issue at all In the end, I left without seeing the concert. And know not to buy a VIP ticket to Royal Arena in the future.
Later that same night, I attended another concert at a different venue and had a much better experience—staff were helpful, spoke English, and made me feel welcome. I expected better treatment from a major venue like Royal Arena, especially after paying for a...
