While the location of the hotel is fantastic and very convenient, there were several issues that made my stay less than ideal.
First, the staff, especially at the reception and the breakfast area, seemed unprofessional and poorly trained. It was evident that many had not received proper hospitality training, with some even appearing to dislike their jobs. One particular staff member at breakfast was unfriendly to the point of being arrogant, which made the mornings unpleasant.
That said, there were some positives. The security was strong, and I felt safe throughout my stay. The cleaning team did a good job – my room was clean, and I didn’t encounter any bugs, which is always a plus. However, the room maintenance left a lot to be desired.
The room was old and worn down. Several things in the room were broken or malfunctioning. The air conditioning unit, while functioning, was partially broken and blew cold air directly onto my face, which resulted in me developing a cough. The shower handle also kept falling off, and despite two attempts to fix it, the problem persisted throughout my stay. Lastly, I experienced issues with the toilet; twice, I couldn’t flush it, which was quite inconvenient and frustrating.
Overall, I was left disappointed with my stay. While the location is excellent and the cleaning staff reliable, the lack of professionalism and room maintenance issues really detracted from my experience. The quality of the rooms seems to fluctuate greatly, so if you’re booking this hotel, you might get lucky with a good room, but there’s also a high chance of ending up in a poorly maintained one. This level of inconsistency is unacceptable for a hotel and makes the whole experience feel very...
Read moreSo I left Alicia Beach Hotel because owners wouldn't do NOTHING about late night noise after 10pm after just 4 days with 21 more to go. New Garden offered a decent rate, plus I'd been there many times in the past for meals, so I made the mistake of paying the 21 days in advance....smart travelers pay daily....soooooo, the courtyard set up, as most hotels here are made it sooooo noisy every night until 11 or midnight, by day 3 I was ready to GO !! Worked it out to change rooms to bldg across the street ( more modern & nicer BTW ) and QUIET NIGHTS FINALLY !! But after a week, in comes the RiffRaff hoodrats that bring their bad behavior to other countries...these last 2 nights are noisy in this section too now. Still have another 6 days here & wished I could LEAVE NOW !! Complaints to front desk useless, they apparently have no "rules" about late night noise and as a guest I don't matter. ||Oddly enough, the owner has a constant presence in the restaurant and he has been around at 10-11 when noisey idiots with bluetooth speakers have their sliding door wide open playing loud rap....nothing against rap, but time & place for it.||||I will DEFINITELY NOT BE COMING BACK and will warn others not to come here. I'd rather have paid 10bucks more each night for a better RULE ENFORCED hotel. Overall it's comfortable, staff is nice, maids on point, and chica friendly, and if you come to PARTY then it's just the place to come, be loud, play your music past midnight, yell/scream/act a fool, you'll be ok !! No worries your private obnoxious party will be shut down.||||For those wanting a QUIET RESTFUL RELAXING hotel, do not come...
Read moreI recently stayed at New Garden Hotel in Sosua, and I cannot express enough how disappointing my experience was. First of all, the customer service was abysmal. I tried to cancel one night of my stay, and despite making a clear request well in advance, I was told it wasn’t possible. This is completely unacceptable and shows a lack of respect for guests’ needs.
Additionally, the room was far below expectations. There was no shampoo provided, which is basic for any hotel. There was unbearable noise until 2am coming from the balcony, making it difficult to sleep.
The breakfast was also a letdown. Despite it being included in the stay, water was not provided as part of the meal. I had to pay extra for something as basic as a bottle of water, which felt very cheap and inconsiderate.
To make matters worse, I noticed multiple females coming in and out of the hotel who appeared to be involved in inappropriate activities. There was also a strong marihuana smell lingering around the pool area, which made the environment feel uncomfortable and unpleasant. It felt unsafe and unsettling, and I certainly would not recommend this place to anyone looking for a peaceful, respectable stay.
Overall, I would not stay there again, and I would advise others to avoid it as well. There are many other options in the area that offer better service and safer, cleaner...
