Good location doesn't make up for deficiencies.
Review of Hotel El Rancho Sosua

Wonderful location within walking distance to a beautiful beach. Air conditioning works very well. The morning waitress is a wonderful surprise and she is featured on one of the website's photos.
That's where the compliments end. The manager of the hotel is an older woman who was acting as the bartender during the daily happy hour (2 for 1) from 3-6pm. I arrived back at the hotel at 4pm after a day of scuba diving. My 3 family members and I wanted to relax at the pool so I asked the manager if I needed to go to the bar to place drink orders or was she providing poolside service. Poolside service were her answer. There was no other people in the bar or at the pool. After waiting 30 minutes for her to come out to the pool, we had to call for her to come serve us. I was in the pool or I would have walked to the restaurant/bar which is connected to the pool area (15 feet away). We ordered 4 strawberry daiquiris and a few appetizers. 30 minutes later the drinks arrived folled 15 minutes later by the appetizers. When drinks had been empty for another 30 minutes we ordered 2 more. Those arrived at about 5pm. We started to play Dominos and our drinks were empty at 5:30pm. We wanted 2 more drinks and when she came outside again it was 6:10pm. "Sorry, Happy Hour ended at 6pm ". I replied that we had been waiting since 5:30 and she repeated that Happy Hour ended at 6pm. I told her that it wasn't right, but we would still like 2 more daiquiris. We continued to play Dominos and 30 minutes later we still had no drinks. The only people in the restaurant were a party of 6. No excuse for lack of attention. We had to go to the bar to get the bill. We asked again what happened and got no response. As for other deficiencies, they only take cash. There are no blankets in the rooms, only 1 sheet on the bed. Kitchen with stove refrigerator and sink but no pans. Only 2 pillows per room. Hot water takes 10 minutes to arrive once the shower is running. Free parking is on the street outside. Good luck. Nightly extracurricular activities and motorcycles are loud. (If you need companionship it might be a bonus). I won't be coming back to this hotel on my next visit to Sosua. Too bad since the location is very good.

I stayed in in this hotel between 13 mar - 23 Mar 2018.||I booked double room with terrace in booking.com and paid extra for this . I detailed that as note I want room in high floor with view. However, receptionist Carlos gave me room in first floor without window! I said I booked double room and can't state room without window. He tried convince me it was very good room! Then he showed another standard room in second floor with window. I took it. He regretted this room was standard because all double rooms took already later. My room's exposure is to street, there was a lot noise from street and bar across room. Almost no insulation in walls. I can't sleep some nights. I told receptionist situation, he again offered me room in first floor without windows. Hotel 's owner is German with Costarican wife, hotel is like German club. What I noticed was Germans had privilege in hotel. They were given best room in hotel. Sound to me non German are not very welcome in this hotel. I felt alien when went restaurant among them, not friendly approach at all, Even I said hello they replied barely, is this german way I don't know. I had an unhappy and uncomfortable moment in hotel. It was last day in hotel Iwas waiting my flight, late night, in hotel's restaurant . I had my dinner, after dinner I wanted enjoy my last cigar. There 2 table with client beside me. They were senior couples and probably just restaurant clients. We had quite distance between me and them. One guy I saw him sometimes in hotel with his German fellows came to restaurant . he stared me he just went inside kitchen and he made some signs with angry and disrespectful face. First I didn't get it then I noticed he meant don't smoke with ugly body language. I went through him and asked him who.is he. He said directly don't smoke I asked smoking is not allowed? he said cigar in dinner time is not good. I told him why he didn't come to.my table introduce himself and tell me this, instead make freak signs and gestures. This guy , whoever is, one of waitress told me he is one of boss, made an unhappy time for in this stay before leaving. I...
