Saray Spa — Attraction in Geziret al Zamalik, Jazirat al Zamalik

This was the worst hotel spa I’ve ever been to. This was not relaxing or comfortable. I am only giving 2 stars because it was a clean space. I booked a 60 min massage and 60 min facial. To start, the prices online when you book do not reflect what they charge you (significantly more). The staff was not prepared for my booking even though I made the appointment in advance. The room wasn’t ready and they spent 10 minutes getting supplies together. I was freezing the whole time (cold hands, cold oil, cold bed) and I don’t think the technician was a masseuse — she somehow avoided every muscle during the massage. The facial was a “custom” facial, but there was no conversation on my skincare or needs. I almost walked out on this multiple times. The procedure was just one face mask after the other, that was rubbed off with a rough washcloth. Between was just her randomly applying pressure and tugging at my skin. My face was burning in the first 20 minutes and I had to tell her to stop. I would’ve paid just as much to never have had...

I booked massage and hammam. Hammam was very bad experience - I gave at the beginning 2 stars, because it was clean, and the staff was kind, but my skin more than week after this session is still hurt, scratched and the protruding mole on my back was almost torn out. I still have scratching moles. this is very dangerous and should not happen. I had many times sessions in hammam, but this was just bad. It looks like they don't know how to do in proper way. My last leg of egypt trip landed me in Marriott Cairo. Had a couple of free hours so I thought I check out what the spa has to offer. I called and a very knowledgeable and courteous lady answered. She recommended the Moroccan royal hamman ritual with massage and was able to arrange an appointment later that day. I have to say this is the best spa experience ever.
