Old Town Porvoo is a historical neighborhood located in Porvoo, Finland. It is known for its colorful wooden buildings, cobblestone streets, and traditional handicraft shops. Old Town Porvoo is a popular destination for tourists who want to experience Finnish culture and history. Old Town Porvoo was built in the 13th century and has undergone many changes throughout its history. It was once an important trading center, but later fell into decline. However, in recent years, Old Town Porvoo has been restored and has become a popular tourist destination. Old Town Porvoo has many interesting attractions, including: * Porvoo Cathedral: This church was built in the 13th century and is one of the oldest wooden churches in Finland. * Porvoo Museum: This museum displays artifacts from the Middle Ages to the modern era. * The Devil's Stairs: These stairs are made of stone and are said to have been built by the devil. * Handicraft shops: Old Town Porvoo has many shops selling traditional Finnish handicrafts, such as pottery, glassware, and woodwork. Old Town Porvoo is a great place to take a walk and explore Finnish culture and history. It is also a great place to take pictures. If you are visiting Finland, I am sure you will enjoy visiting Old Town Porvoo.

Porvoo is an idyllic town nestled just an hour and a half away from Helsinki. We came here for lunch and a brief walk around the old town. The architecture of the shops is archaic Finnish country style with colorful facades painted in pastel colors giving them a very contemporary yet retrospective look. The shops found here mainly sell souvenirs, clothing and arts and craft. Not really a fancy shopping destination but more to buying local produce which is a nice alternative. There is a Sunday market as well with street food and stalls with a variety of food produce, handicrafts and clothing. All in all, it’s a nice countryside visit with beautiful rolling hills along the way to Porvoo. Definitely worth visiting!

This is my favorite town with beautiful preserved buildings. Without expecting much, this was a nice surprise. It's definitely worth to visit this place and walk around for couple of hours, with some stops in the restaurants of cafés. What I specifically liked was that even the common houses or flat buildings seemed to be historical and preserved, making the historical city center much wider, not concentrating everything historical to one square or so. Parking at the place was pain, since almost every parking spot was either occupied, or expensive. Not to have a headache, I needed to go for that second option. There are some public toilets that I used. They were paid, but clean.

Porvoo Old Town is one of Finland’s best-preserved historic areas, known for its charming cobblestone streets, colorful wooden houses, and medieval town layout. Dating back to the Middle Ages, it developed as a trading hub along the Porvoonjoki River and still features the iconic red shore warehouses that once stored goods for merchants. The town reflects centuries of Finnish-Swedish influence, with narrow lanes, artisan shops, cafés, and galleries creating a unique atmosphere. At its heart stands Porvoo Cathedral, adding historical significance, while the surrounding houses and buildings showcase 18th- and 19th-century architecture. Today, Porvoo Old Town is a popular tourist destination, offering a blend of cultural heritage, local crafts, and vibrant...
