Where to start?||What a beautifully located and looking B&B this is! It was so easy to find in the old town and seconds away from everything. ||We arrived early and the owner had let us keep our stuff there until we were able to check in. That gave us time to go for a nice walk and get some food.||The owner was really polite, informative and just made you feel welcome. ||We arrived back from our walk and we had been upgraded to a double room which we were very happy about. ||The room had the originally beams and oozed character. It had a nice wooden floors and a super comfy bed! The TV was pretty small but we probably watched it for an hour later in the evening so didn't care. The hot drink making facilities were in a communal part of the building where there was a couch, TV etc. Was really pretty. The shower is located next to it. The toilet is also out of the room. Was always free when we needed it and same with the shower. ||The views were amazing too. I thought anyway!|My only fault about the room/place is it needs some extra power sockets or leads to be able to charge phone etc otherwise you compromise other things. ||The breakfast was a nice selection and tasted of a good quality! Both were happy. ||10/10 is easily given to this b&b. We will be back for sure in the summer, maybe sooner. ||There's a lovely little souvenir shop 15 seconds from the front door that makes handmade items. Well worth a visit. We got some lovely...
Read moreThe room was boiling hot which I can imagine would be super uncomfortable on really warm days, and it was uncomfortable for us on a 17 degree day. 1 bathroom between 4 bedrooms that can host anywhere between 8 to 12 people! So there were long queues all the time to use it. The shower is in the sauna so if someone is using the sauna you can't shower.||||Breakfast was nice when we were able to eat it. We booked breakfast both days at 9am and on the second day there was no space for us at all. The staff ignored us the 3 times we came down between 9 and 9.25. We later found out they complained that breakfast was a mess because we came at the wrong time (despite us booking this time on our first evening and going at that time on our first morning!!).||||There was no space for parking cars, and it was difficult to find somewhere to park for the whole day we were at an event.||||We paid €250 for 2 nights for 2 people. Our friend was staying in a satellite location of guesthouse with his own sauna, bathroom, double bed and river view for €190 despite booking after us! Other friends paid €85 per night for 2 people. This is essentially a hostel with limited facilities. We definitely feel we were ripped off.||||The location is in the old town which is really nice to walk around (not for cars). That was the only thing we really liked about this property.||||Would I stay here again, or recommend to...
Read moreVery cute B&B along the river in Porvoo, Finland. I stayed in the Star Room, which is a bit separated from the main property. Owner knocked on the door as I arrived. He apparently also owns the nearby restaurant Ranta-aitta, which had its commissary and bathrooms across from the property.
Be aware this property and its windows all face an alley that will have fairly heavy foot traffic in the afternoon/evening hours because of the restaurant. I immediately drew all the blinds when I entered the unit. Other than that privacy inconvenience, the location is fantastic, right on the main strip of the old town of Porvoo.
Inside the unit you have a nicely functional kitchen and washer/dryer (which I used and was very convenient). There's two bathrooms, one with a shower and one without. Shower is a bit small and confining, but solid.
The chairs in the kitchen were not super comfortable and the wifi didn't reach the bedroom very well, so if you need to do something online for a decent amount of time the unit isn't the most ergonomic solution for this situation.
There is a piano in the unit! I did not play or know if it was actually encouraged but it's something to consider.
There is access to a sauna that's across the street from the main property, which I used. Its heat doesn't get much higher than 60-70ºC but with plentiful water you can get enough steam for a good...
