Tiedekeskus Pilke, Metsähallitus — Attraction in Rovaniemi sub-region

Fun interactive museum! We went as 2 adults (no children) with the culture pass. Otherwise, you can buy tickets ahead, but it's not necessary.

There's a coat rack and a free locker area in addition to a lovely gift shop. Our only drawback was a few displays were not operational.

An in-depth look at the history, current application, and environmental impact of the logging industry. Contrary to some reviews, we found it a fun experience as an adult and a nice way to pass a few hours (especially if the weather is extra cold/damp). It is small, but you really learn a lot, and digital displays have multiple language options.

Rovaniemi is a small town with 3 museums whose entry fee covers by the cuture pass. Pilke is one of the museums that travellers can spend an hour to appreciate the forest and logging industry and learn a lot through digital displays with multiple language.

At the entrance, there is a simulator showing how the trees are cut. Inside, there are many fun and interactive activities in the exhibit area and large vehicle used in cutting trees.

This one is on the small side, and definitely aimed at children. There is a plethora of interactive exhibits to explore and try out. Unfortunately, as with many child-oriented tourist places, parents made this one unbearable to stay at, as many just let their young ones run wild, making it impossible to check out any exhibit without being run into or shoved aside. They do have a nice break room though with a hot drink machine that charges just 30 cents...
