I was able to taste several wines from this winery for free of charge Sunday morning. They closed at noon on that day.
The owner told me that Riesling and Gewurztraminer are grapes specially grown in this Alsace region. The end taste of Riesling is more mineral and clean and that of Gewurztraminer is more rosy and aromatic. Gewurztraminer is sweeter so that it is good as a dessert wine.
Their Gewurztraminer 2009 (Late Harvest) maintains 100% sweetness, which tasted rich and very aromatic but actually not too sweet, so it seems good for desserts. I liked it. Other two signature Gewurztraminer wines tasted similarly aromatic but less sweet. Actually, the differences in sweetness are subtle.
Then, I tried their Riesling 2015. It was moderately dry and fruity and the end is mineral. It would go well with seafood and fish, etc.

Read moreWe reached out to the winery via the contact form on their website to schedule a tasting during our stay in Colmar and received prompt and polite responses. The process was very easy and they were very accommodating with our schedule.
The tasting itself was a joy. We came for three tastings and ended up extending it to five. We appreciated the variety of styles and emphasis on local Alsatian wines. One of the owners even helped us understand what we were tasting and was super friendly.
In total, we spent €43 EUR and walked away with a bottle of their delicious 2020 Riesling Cuvée Pierre et Gilles (€13 EUR).
We would recommend Domaine Robert Karcher et Fils to anyone interested in trying delicious (and great value!!) local wines in a welcoming and relaxed...
Read moreThis winery offers a magnificent lesson in the wonders of the Alsatian wines. We scheduled a visit with tasting. Our hotel staff, at La Maison des Tetes, arranged the private tasting. We were treated to extraordinary learnings. We thought we knew something of Alsace wines, but the wonderful varietals of whites and reds were surprising. This is a family-owned winery. You see their love and care in every aspect of the wines offered. We were able to easily arrange for a shipment of wines to the US. We are looking forward to enjoying three cases of Domaine Karcher's extraordinary wines in the months to come. A...
