Pavillon du Verdurier — Attraction in Limoges

Beautiful pavilion from an architecture standpoint. They were doing an art show and the local artists were I believe in the building. My lack of French skills made it hard to ask questions. There were a number of displays under different artist names and I believe everything was for sale from about €50 to a couple hundred. There were a number of pieces I wouldn’t mind hanging on my wall. I imagine the art and/or purpose of the building change regularly based on the other reviews. But just from a beautiful building standpoint it was...

I'm not sure if I have this right but I think that this is an art gallery; it was closed on Sunday we found it.

That said, it is a fascinating piece of architecture with beautiful external decoration and worth looking for, for that reason alone. I really hope that it is open when we next...

Mais pourquoi diable n'y a-t-il dans ce bâtiment quasi rien qui parle de son histoire ? Et les cloisonnements et aménagements sont trop hauts : d'où qu'on se mette et qu'on regarde la coupole et son listel, il y a toujours un angle de cloison qui hache la vue. En plus certains sont placés devant les baies, coupant la lumière extérieure. Et les abords laissent à désirer, pas facile de lever le nez pour voir les médaillons en façade quand les trottoirs sont crevassés ou troués et bordés de voitures qui gênent la vue de plus loin.

Bref ce bâtiment n'est pas mis en valeur et c'est bien dommage parce que son histoire est riche et qu'il est plein de jolis détails architecturaux...
