The museum of paleontology in Jardin du Plantes boasts a rich a collection of skeletons and fossils for the curious visitor.

The first level is filled with extant animals; mostly mammals, including whales, but also some marine species.

On the second level you find skeletons of dinosaurs and other extinct animals. This was my favourite part of the museum, partly because of the spaciousness of this area, allowing you to study these mighty giants without interference from too many elements around them.

On the top level there is a collection of fossils of plants, and ammonites and other marine animals.

It was an intriguing museum to visit and absolutely worth it for people with interest in zoology and paleontology. I found the skeletons on the first level to be quite cramped, with so little space in between them that it disturbed the viewing experience of the elements on display—there was no breathing space. Certain places, especially in the whale section, it was hard to get a look at all the skeletons properly since some were hidden behind each other; in addition it was sometimes unclear which sign belonged to which animal. It's understandable that spacial there are spacial constraints, but it felt like too much had been squeezed into too small of a space. The dinosaur skeletons on the second level were afforded much more generous space.

Another thing I thought was a shame was that all the signs for the animal names were written exclusively in French. This made the information about the animals less accessible to non-French speakers. One of the corners next to the whales even had a section with old handwritten notes for the animal names. The handwriting itself was elegant and gracious, but it ultimately further decreased the readability of the small signs.

Despite certain downsides to the museum, I still think it was worth the visit. The interior was clean and tidy, and the staff were...

This place is beautiful with beatiful reconstruction of these animals and i personally had great time while it was hot inside i still had great time taking pictures and drawing even tho there were a lot of noise thankfully i had earphones so i dont mind and although i feel like there should be more words in english a lot of times i had to Google translate and a lot of the drawing under the fossils a lot of them are a bit outdated like the triceratops, carnotaurus a lot of them were skinwrapped and it could be better if the dinosaures had a more accurate look wich i dont mind and the people inside were very nice a lot of kids were running around wich was harder to draw but i didnt mind. i think this museum is great and should be more popular while it is mainly the only museum with fossils in paris if i am not mistaken i feel like this museum has a lot to offer like fossil plants wich i had a very fun time Reading all the small papers and information and i hope more fossils will be in this museum i feel like the dinosaures categorie is smaller than i though i was still impressed by those fossils like the iguanodon fossil and the giant ground sloth i loved everything in here and it made me learn a lot more i for sure will Come back again later this year hoping to maybe see more new stuff loved this place and my personal favorite thing about this museum is for sure the staff being nice and all the information about each fossil, plant, animal and the fossils were stunning the lightning from the windows made alot of the fossil look so much more beautiful 10/10 loved this place i was inside for...

I've been in countless museums because im really in love with history and paleontology, sometimes you are greeted by all sort of information in diferent languages, some other times they are a little more stingy with multilanguage, but the TOTAL lack of translation.....well...congratulations , you did it, i couldn't believe my eyes , at the very end of the visit i saw this little leaflets with some info and pictures which i though ,at the beginning ,were intended just for kids, in english, besides that, you are on your own, make sure your phone is full of charge because google translator is gonna be your best friend here, i could undestand it if it were the museum of the paris sanit germain soccer team, but it's really a petty that an AWESOME collection which has no flag since represents the whole earth way before such thing as france or europe exist is displayed just in one language and we are no longer in the 19th century ,it's 2023...
