First off the show was great. The ambiance of the theatre, first rate. I was very excited about this show. My family is travelling for 5 weeks and as a result of the dress code, I made them all bring nicer clothes for this. It was a great night to get dressed up.
There is a dress code. Not sure why. Many not taking the dress code into account. Honestly, this didn't bother me. My teens on the other hand took note of this.
Then we got our table. I paid for a nicer table, but we got the worst table there. Lower level, right in the back. Apparently there is a note on the site that I missed that they will only 'hold' better tables until 30 min before the show. We arrived at 20 to 9 but there was a line to get in. We were seated about 5 to 9.
The table in front and to my right had 2 kids under 10. Both were good in that they weren't screaming but one would not stop talking, loudly, throughout the whole show. Kids over 4 are allowed. This was distracting.
To my left was a table where the whole family was videoing and photographing the show. The light from their camera was distracting and their camera in the way as they held it up to video. There is a rule that recording and photographs of the show were prohibited. Can't tell you how many employees walked past them and never said a thing.
My 16 yr old daughter also noted that dad was only photographing the women bare breasted and him and his teen son were laughing about it. Pretty poor.
There were also little things that took away from the experience. It was hot. The AC needed to be higher. I'm typically cold so coming from me that's saying a lot.
Our server came to have me pay for our drinks about 20 min into the show with his flash light, which made me miss a few minutes, and again very distracting. I could have easily paid before the show started.
Lastly, the servers were clearing away all the unused champagne and wine glasses off to the side of our table. These servers are skilled in that they can take a lot in their hands with the stems in their fingers but that also means you hear glasses clinking with every single glass added to their fingers and every single movement of the servers. This couldn't have been done before or after the show? It was honestly very annoying.
For the amount of money paid, these things take away from the whole experience. I came all the way from Canada and chose this show, months in advance, over Moulin Rouge. I just wish I could have enjoyed it more than I was able to, because the show...
Read moreI have just returned from my trip to Paris & I can tell you that the experience I had at the Lido was an absolute disappointment & disaster
We had a problem on our way to the show so we had to arrive at 20:07 while the show started at 20:00
When we showed our tickets they told us that as we are late, they already “gave” our places to other persons & that we can’t be seated at our places so they made us seat on the last row at the balcony from where we couldn’t see anything… I came back out to try to make those people come to their senses, explaining to them that we paid for our exact seats & that it wasn’t right not to give us our places but they said that they couldn’t as they can’t disturb people watching the show
I asked for the champagne glasses that we orders, they said that we had to wat for the 2nd act as they can’t serve it right now anymore… it is then that we decided to leave the Lido as this was totally unacceptable… we left by 20:30
What happened at the Lido on 14.12.2024 is a totally unprofessional behavior & more than that, it’s a complete rip-off & even theft… we have been literally robbed… you made us pay for places that you didn’t give us & probably sold them to someone else & you made us pay for champagne glasses that you didn’t serve to us
When I made my reservation over the phone, no one mentioned that if I’m not there on time, I will lose my place… what do you think this is??? A flight that has to leave on time???? We paid for seats & service that the Lido robbed from us
What happened was totally unacceptable & it ruined our vacation!!!! We had to spend the entire evening & the 2 days following in a stressed mood because of what happened
I am tour operator that has been working in the hospitality industry for more than 30 years already & I have never ever encountered such an unprofessional behavior, even in the worst places you can imagine… how can this happen in Paris??? We usually advise our clients what to do & where to go during their trips & Lido was definitely on the to-do list of Paris but what I’ve experienced is catastrophic!!!!
I have tried to contact them several times by email to request a refund but no one is bothering...
Read moreI was looking forward to experience a Paris cabaret, the Lido came with recommendations and great reviews. We arrived, we were seated and our drinks order was taken. And then began a multitude of errors.
The Storyline: resembled the female version of “A Rake’s Progress”, the main character - who is eerily a Taylor Swift lookalike - arrives in a piece of luggage and proceeds to be groomed to become a cabaret dancer. This involves urging her, and mocking her to undress and dance provocatively. I know this is just a character but for me there are very strong forced prostitution overtones: procurement, grooming and eventual Stockholm syndrome-like acceptance. If the character is happy at her transformation yet didn’t appear to desire it, does that mean all that she went through is justified? I cannot in good conscience recommend such a story to anyone. When so many agencies are working against the narratives of human procurement and trafficking, why would a well known establishment such as the Lido celebrate it?
The Price: is not as advised. Our hotel concierge assured me in English and French that we would pay €115 per head with 2 non alcoholic drinks each included in the price. The man who demanded we pay decided to charge us €10 each extra! Why? Because they were busy. Which business treats their customers with such disgrace? I was absolutely appalled. I cannot express to you how bitter the taste in my mouth was after th extra money was requested. It turns out we paid €400 for the seats and €100 for 6 bottles of Cola Light and 1 large bottle of sparkling water. Sufficed to say I took the leftover drinks with me.
I have never visited the Lido before. I arrived in anticipation and very excited for the program ahead. I left disappointed, a little shocked at (lack of) service and just not happy.
I would ask the staff at the Lido to revisit their approach to guests and honour the time old tradition of stick to the price you advertise, as well as taking another look at their new show and seeing exactly what it is they...
