Nestled in the 12th arrondissement of Paris, Parc de Bercy is a hidden gem that offers a refreshing escape from the bustling streets of the French capital. I stumbled upon this park recently during a trip to Paris, and it quickly became one of my favorite discoveries. As of today, March 18, 2025, the early spring air was crisp, and the park was just beginning to awaken with the promise of blooming flowers and greener days ahead. Even in this transitional season, Parc de Bercy exudes a charm that’s hard to resist—a blend of history, nature, and modern design that makes it a standout among Paris’s many green spaces. Spanning 14 hectares, Parc de Bercy is the city’s tenth-largest park, and it’s thoughtfully divided into three distinct sections: the Grandes Prairies, the Parterres, and the Jardin Romantique. Each area has its own personality, making it a place where you can wander for hours and still feel like there’s more to explore. What struck me first was how the park seamlessly weaves its past into its present. Built in the mid-1990s on the site of former wine warehouses—once the world’s largest wine market—you can still spot remnants of that history. Cobblestone pathways, old railway tracks, and even a small vineyard with 400 vines pay homage to Bercy’s vinous legacy. Walking along these paths, I couldn’t help but imagine the barrels rolling in from the Seine centuries ago, a lively trade hub now transformed into a tranquil retreat.
That said, Parc de Bercy isn’t without its quirks. The nearby Gare de Paris-Bercy bus station brings a steady stream of travelers, and I noticed a few less savory characters lingering near the edges, especially as the morning wore on. Some reviews I’d read warned of it feeling “gloomy” or unsafe at night, and I can see why—stick to daytime visits if you’re wary. The park’s size also means it’s not always pristine; I spotted a bit of litter near the benches, and the covered seating areas had a faint whiff that suggested they’d seen better days. Accessibility-wise, it’s a mixed bag—Line 14 is great for wheelchair users, and parts of the park are flat, but the uneven stones and some stepped areas could be tricky. What I loved most, though, was how Parc de Bercy feels like a locals’ spot rather than a tourist trap. It’s close to Bercy Village, with its charming shops and eateries housed in old wine warehouses, and the Accor Arena looms impressively to the north. Yet the park itself remains understated, a place where you can feel the pulse of Parisian life without the crowds of the Tuileries or Luxembourg Gardens. The Cinémathèque Française, designed by Frank Gehry, adds a cultural edge, and I’m already planning to pair a future visit with a film screening there. In short, Parc de Bercy is a modern classic—less polished than some of Paris’s iconic parks, but richer for it. Whether you’re a traveler killing time before a bus or a local seeking a green escape, it’s worth a detour. I left feeling refreshed, with a newfound appreciation for how Paris transforms its industrial past into something beautiful....
Read moreIt wasn't clean at all when I arrived..But they cleaned it afterwards. Good place to wait until the bus arrives. Crowded always and the toilets are terrible inside the main bus Queue. But a good place to kill your time.
But the plus point is.. you can visit Parc de Bercy for free and there are toilets inside the jardin. A little bit creepy as it is not crowded at all.

Read moreThis park is a wonderful, with lots of different little "themed" areas within it. At one end is the Bercy Stadium, where an upcoming Scorpions concert was being advertised. In the middle was a grand staircase and water feature leading up to the Seine, dotted with sunbathers. Further on are a small vineyard and adjacent cottage-like museum. At the far end is a "pond" with ducks and turtles, and the Bercy Village shopping area is just beyond that. There's lots more to see here, so allow yourself plenty of time. Sure, there were a couple of homeless people about, and the east end of the park was mobbed by teenagers when a nearby school let out, but I loved this park and I don't think I saw a single other tourist. Combine a trip here with lunch at Bercy Village and a visit to the architecturally stunning Bibliothèque nationale de France just over a pedestrian bridge...
