Casino d'Evian — Attraction in Thonon-les-Bains

Dare NOT try this casino. After passport check and granted admittance, I was approached by security within fifteen minutes of arrival, then escorted out along with my friends. Reason: inappropriate male attire? It was a hot and humid day in Evian; July, Summer around Lake Geneva, temperatures 25•C/upper 70’s •F. I was dressed in a tank top(sleeveless, shoulders exposed), linen trousers, flip-flop sandals; no different than many of those exploring the streets of Evian and the casino. When approached, I was told to go to the ground floor as security also proceeded to list off “spur of the moment reasons and rules” of the establishment regarding my abrupt dismissal. Even after asking, trying to make reprieves, i.e. should/could I put on a scarf, a sweatshirt, security ultimately glanced down at my footwear, deeming that “according to management,” I could not stay due to my lack of adherence to “dress code.” If there was/is a “strict” dress code, why were the rules not posted? Why was I allowed to enter? Why was I not questioned/denied immediately? Was it necessary to have me and my friends escorted out by security? Where was management if my clothing was so grave an issue? Was I singled out? Bizarre. Embarrassing for the casino. Truly disappointing. It’s newly renovated, poorly managed, with an overtly zealous security staff feeling the need to assert some kind of dominance. The casino clearly doesn’t want to generate any money. Do yourself a favor and avoid Casino...

The Evian Casino stands out as an impressive architectural marvel, but that's where the praise ends. The slot machines downstairs are nothing more than money pits. Increasing the bet results in immediate losses, and there's no option to lower the bet during a game. This greatly diminishes the joy of playing. The machines should allow occasional wins to keep players engaged for more than a couple of minutes. As it stands, the machines just swallow money without providing any entertainment value.

Additionally, the drinks at the bar are not complimentary for players and are certainly not worth their high prices. The staff treats visitors with a noticeable air of arrogance. If the ID checker doesn’t know where Finland is, perhaps they should consider returning to elementary...

The staff were not sure what was the correct process - attire, buying chips, Drinks and so on.. At the entrance we asked if we were able to enter with our summer clothing (as it is beach resort) later to find out we were restricted to only play computer/slot machines and roulette and other tables were restricted to full pants attire. The bar closed 30min before closing time, so we were not able to have drinks. What is the management thinking I don’t know - this is not a way to earn/spend money when the rest of the city is sleeping. Worst casino...
