The Marché Victor Hugo is a must-visit destination for food lovers in Toulouse, France. This historic covered market, dating back to 1892, offers a delightful array of fresh produce, artisanal goods, and local specialties that showcase the rich culinary heritage of the region. The market is a veritable treasure trove, with stalls selling premium fish, meats, cheeses, and other delectable foodstuffs. You can find a wide range of products, from the famous Toulouse sausage (to the traditional white beans (haricots blancs/Tarbais). The market is also a great place to sample the local cuisine, which features dishes like cassoulet and confit de canard. One of the highlights of the Marché Victor Hugo is its lively atmosphere. The market opens early (6 am) and is a hub of activity, with vendors calling out to customers and the air filled with the aroma of freshly baked bread and sizzling meats. The market square is a popular gathering place for locals and tourists alike, offering a glimpse into the daily life of the city.

Loved this wine shop in the middle of Victor Hugo Market . There is a huge selection of great wines from the region and a large variety from other places . One of the employees suggested we grab food from around the market and come back to pair it with a glass of wine ; which we did and it was a GREAT experience ! Laury also suggested some of her favorite wines (which we tried) and a place for dinner which turned out to be excellent !!! Great service and they speak English & Spanish 😍

Definitely one of the best markets in France because of the range and quality of produce on sale. Basically you could shop there everyday for ever and never run out of food to buy and dishes to prepare. There are several counter bars with limited menus but the restaurants are on the first floor. This is the only disappointment - Narbonne for example has a number of stalls with adjacent tables and counters for eating. Overall the market is well laid out and rather stylish.

an indoor market with fresh produce, breads, cheese, sea food and much more. we stopped at one of the sea food stalls where you can stand at one of their counters and eat some delicious fresh seafood. toilets at the markets are not as clean as they could be. We purchased some toulouse sausage and speck at a butcher, absolutely Devine and a must try. Also purchased the famous cassoulet which was amazing too!

Closest market hall to the Capitole Square in Toulouse. The building itself is modern and not particularly interesting, but it hosts multiple stands where you can stock on high quality local produce, cheese, duck confit and other Southwestern specialties. There are also restaurants in the first floors and stands where you can grab a snack and a glass of wine.

Loads of local specialities like foie gras/saucissons/ cheese you can find here, different fresh and even frozen products are available. I would say the price is slightly higher than ordinary markets but still in an acceptable range. Even though you’re not buying anything from there, it’s still worth visiting as you could explore the local food culture.
