Cochemer Sesselbahn Talstation — Attraction in Cochem

The queues were short and quick. The personel at the ticketcounter was okay (prizes: € 4,80 one way, €6,80 up and down. Children under 14 y: €1,80 one way, €2,80 up and down) We decited to take a one way ticket up and walk downhill afterwards. Its a good way to get a total experience, so i'll recomened it (if you're physically okay). To be hones it's an easy stroll downhill, but mind your step, there are many rocky paths. The view from the top is nice, worth it👍🏻. The food and restaurant up the hill wasn't that good in my taste.. it's more romantic to sit down on a bench and maybe bring some baguettes and a bottle of wine yourself 😉 if you're visting Cochem/The Sellelbahn as couple of course. Anyway...

One of the most memorable chair lifts in Germany. I would rate this chair lift after the one in Boppard to be the next best ride. The key highlight of this chair lift is view towards river Moselle and also to the castle. Just before you get down at the top of the hill with a chair lift, there is a point in the journey where the machine would take a picture of yours. Don't forget to smile and pose. After getting down at the top of the hill, there is a machine from which you could take a printout of the photo which was being captured. Preis für die Sesselbahn ist in Ordnung. Aber Achtung: Oben kurz vor Ende steht eine Kamera, die Fotos der Fahrgäste macht. Oben angekommen, kann man sich für 2,50 € eines ausdrucken lassen. So weit so gut, allerdings ist das Foto nicht zwingend das eigene. Nach einem kurzen Gespräch mit dem Personal, das einem grundsätzlich erst einmal die Schuld gibt -"Sie waren zu langsam, das müssen Sie schneller machen!" -"Ja sorry, mussten erst das Geld aus dem Portmonee holen, hatten aber unser Foto ausgewählt!" -"Ja das muss schneller gehen, ich habe Sie beobachtet!"- Mega! Vor allem weil ja die Gondeln quasi im Sekundentakt da oben eintrudeln. Nach einigem hin und her wurde dann der Drucker vom Personal abermals geschaltet, so das wir nun doch unser Foto ausdrucken und das bereits erhaltene Bild eines fremden Ehepaares auf die Maschine legen konnten. Zu mehreren offensichtlich falschen übrigens. Scheint also ein häufiger auftretendes Problem zu sein - Willkommen in der Servicewüste. Apropos Servicewüste: das Café gleich nebenan glänzt ebenfalls mit schlechtem Service. Wartezeiten über knapp 15 Minuten für ein Wasser und nochmal ebenso langes Wartes auf die Möglichkeit zur Bezahlung bei keinem hohen Kundenandrang und mehreren Kellnern. Von den Preisen mal ganz abgesehen. Danke, aber wir kommen nicht wieder. Zum Schluss mal was positives: Die Aussicht ist wirklich klasse.

PS: beim "Abstieg" stand übrigens wieder Personal am Fotoverkauf. Kommt wohl wirklich häufig vor. ;)

PPS: Der fußläufige Abstieg ist nur für fittere geeignet. Ältere Menschen könnten auf den teils knappen, unebenen Stufen und Wegen Probleme finden, von teilweise zuwucherndem Gestrüpp...
