Das Schlafende Nashorn (The Sleeping Rhino) sculpture is located at the south end of Egidienplatz. This is the work of Polish sculptor Dorota Hadrian (2016) and take's Albrecht Dürer's 'Rhinoceros' (1515) as its inspiration. Here you find a white cream coloured figure of a less than life-sized rhino sleeping on the street. It seems some believe that you may receive good luck by rubbing the rhino's horn. it is an interesting contemporary sculpture related to Nuremburg's most famed artist. Note: Other Durer inspired sculpture worth seeking out if interested in such things is Der Hase (The Rabbit) which is located at Tiergarthertorplatz.

"Az alvó orrszarvú" Dorota Hadrian lengyel szobrászművész 2016-os alkotása. Úgy került Nürnbergbe hogy ebben az évben ünnepelte Krakkó és Nürnberg a "Nürnbergi Krakkó Ház" és a "Krakkói Nürnberg Ház" megalapításának 20. évfordulóját. Mindkét város 20-20 művész alkotásait adta kölcsönbe a másiknak. Így a 100 kilós poliészter-műgyantából készült rinó először a Hans-Sachs Téren volt kiállítva, majd átkerült az "Opernplatz" térre. A Nürnbergiek közben annyira szívükbe zárták a nagyon mélyen alvó orrszarvút, hogy végül Krakkó városa megvásárolta a művésznőtől a szobrot, és Nürnbergnek ajándékozta. A szobor végleges helye pedig az "Eigidenplatz" lett. A művésznőt az elmondása szerint a szobor megalkotására Albrecht Dührer 1515-ös "Rinocérosz" című fametszete ihlette (Dürer maga soha nem látta az 1515-be Lisszabonba érkezett állatot, ami a római idők óta az első élő példány volt Európában), egyben az "Alvó orrszarvú" az állatok kihalására a biológiai sokszínűség eltűnésére...
