Indulge in an authentic Bavarian culinary experience at this charming restaurant, where traditional flavors take center stage. The rich and succulent pork belly is a standout dish, perfectly balancing crispy skin with tender meat, a true homage to Bavarian cuisine. Complement your meal with the delightful apple strudel, its flaky layers embracing a warm, spiced apple filling. The walnut ice cream adds a delightful twist, enhancing the overall dessert experience.

The ambiance echoes Bavarian warmth, with rustic decor and an inviting atmosphere. To ensure you don't miss out on this culinary journey, I highly recommend reserving a table in advance. The popularity of their dishes, especially the recommended pork belly and apple strudel, makes securing a spot a wise choice for a seamless dining experience. Immerse yourself in the heart of Bavaria through the flavors of this delightful...

This is a restaurant and bar set within and beneath the Benedictine Abbey in the old centre of Regensburg, next t the old corn market. Next door, and probably part of the same building is the Asam Church.

The Weltenburger am Dom is the oldest monastery-brewery in the world.

We popped in for a couple of beers in the lovely wooden alcoves - not necessary to eat if there is a free table - and enjoyed the brief experience (it was very cold outside, the heat was welcome and we had 20 minutes to kill before meeting up with our tour group to get the train back to Munich).

Staff were very friendly, but very young and pretty inexperienced - Christmas jobs? However it didn't diminish from our experience, and would certainly go back, maybe for lunch were we to find ourselves in Regensburg again, as the food looked much better than what we ate...

Meh, anti-tourist service put a damper on decent food. Maybe the server thought we were Americans? As a Canadian, I found her service very unwelcoming and rude. We've been in Germany for a week, so this isn't a cultural thing, so maybe she just made a decision to be abrupt and rude to us because we had children with us?

To top it all off, she basically assumed a tip, we begrudgingly gave a good one, but didn't even get a "danka" for it. So whatever, we won't be back (but we will be back in Regensburg in the future), so I would recommend other Canadians avoid this place in case they run into...

I was here for dinner with my colleagues. We didn't have any reservations and still got seats for 4 on a Thursday night. The restaurant was big and looked like a typical Bavarian style which is well preserved. I had their classic asam bockbeer schnitzel. The schnitzel was delicious with the beer sauce and on top of that the fried onion took the whole thing to another level. I had asam bockbeer which was delicious with a little sweet touch. Because of the taste I couldn't try any other beer from there. The service was great. Public parking is available next to the restaurant.

We enjoyed our first meal in Regensburg here and it did not disappoint with traditional Bavarian cuisine. We started with CARPACCIO VOM SEMMELKNÖDEL (marinated dumplings with salad) and BAYERISCHE TAPAS (Bavarian meats tapas and chive bread) which were beautifully presented and absolutely delicious. For main we had SCHNITZEL and SCHWEINSBRATEN (pork belly and dumplings with sauerkraut). It was so filling we struggled to finish! Service was fantastic too, very efficient and friendly and in the traditional costumes. And in a fantastic historic building as well.
