A Scary Incident at Sky Bar (Lycabettus Hill) in Athens – January 1st, 2025, 7:00 PM
I want to share a terrible experience my girlfriend and I had at Sky Bar on Lycabettus Hill. What should have been a nice evening turned into a frightening and harmful situation.
We arrived at the restaurant at 7:00 PM and chose a table for seven people because our family was still at the top of the hill enjoying the view. While waiting, we sat for over 15 minutes trying to order drinks. After politely asking several times for service, a waiter suddenly dropped his serving tray by the kitchen and walked over to us.
He started yelling at us, saying: "Why are you trying to order now when you’re seven people?" We explained we just wanted drinks while waiting for the rest of our family, but he kept shouting. Feeling uncomfortable, we told him we were leaving because of his behavior.
Instead of apologizing, he switched to speaking in Greek and sarcastically told us we could leave a review about him. My girlfriend told him he was being rude, and he arrogantly gave us his name, saying we could include it in any complaint.
When I took out my phone to write his name, things got worse. The waiter attacked me, pushing me into the restaurant's Christmas tree. I hurt my neck, and the tree fell and broke. My girlfriend tried to stop him, but he attacked her too! Other guests saw everything, and some staff eventually took him upstairs, but to our shock, he soon returned to serving guests like nothing had happened.
We asked to speak to a manager, but there was none available. We asked for security or help calling the police because the mobile network was weak, but the staff refused to assist us. When our family arrived, the waiter started shouting at my father (65 years old) and my sister too.
This place is unsafe. The waiter was aggressive and dangerous, and the management did nothing to help. Being on top of Lycabettus Hill, it’s not easy to leave quickly, which made us feel trapped and scared.
Please stay safe and avoid Sky Bar. This was one of the scariest experiences...
Read moreLet me start by saying that the waiters were polite and very nice, however the list of good things to say about this establishment ends here. The skybar is manned with 2 persons, for like ~30 tables, one waiter is only for cleaning so you can only order from one waiter. It took us around 15 minutes to even get a menu, but all went fine. We ordered a mousaka and a sous vide chicken with nicely made vegetable sides and two red wines. After half hours we got the mousaka and the most common grilled chicken with fries and mayonnaise one could get at mcdonalds in about 10 minutes. It took us another 15 minutes to get ahold of the poor waiter serving all the tables telling him about the problem that we didn't order the chicken. He went to check out the menu, then to the kitchen. He was informed that the sous vide chicken is off the menu and now replaced by petty chicken with fries. We were served without being informed about this, even the waiter didn't know. He told us that we can order something else. So my girlfriend ordered a risotto with mushrooms. The wines were served at this point which was again confusing. After a half hour of starving they served a risotto with crabs and clams which we again did not ask for. I mentioned it and the waiter just ran away with the plate without saying a word. After another half hour of pain and awkward eye-contact avoidance of the waiter we got the risotto which was nice but we could've left the city and got served in this time. They could not serve 2 persons normally in 3 hours time. We were never asked if we needed anything and never got a water replacement. Maybe you shouldn't have one kitchen for 3 restaurants and no man to serve all the food when charging this much for it.
Tl;dr they messed up our type of food order 2 times in a row and took 2.5 hours to...

I never thought I’d have to write something like this, but my sister and her boyfriend were physically attacked by a waiter while dining at Sky Bar. This incident was not only horrifying but also completely mishandled by the staff.
My sister and her boyfriend arrived early to meet us for a family gathering. While they waited, they tried to order drinks, but the waiter blatantly ignored them. Out of nowhere, he started yelling at them for trying to order. When they decided to leave after this rude behavior, the situation took a violent turn.
The waiter physically shoved my sister’s boyfriend into a Christmas tree, causing him to hit his neck. When my sister tried to intervene, the waiter turned on her as well. Although other staff members pulled him away, they shockingly allowed him to return to work as if nothing had happened.
When we arrived as a family, the same waiter even had the audacity to shout at us.We asked the staff to call the manager or assist in contacting the police, but they outright refused.
This was not just bad service—it was dangerous, traumatic, and unacceptable. A place like this, where guests are not safe and staff refuse to help in a crisis, should not be operating. I urge anyone considering Sky Bar to stay far away until the management takes accountability for what happened and makes...
