We have just returned from a 7 night stay, in the Relax area in a swim up room (Block 5701 - 5707). Traveling as a couple with no kids.||We booked a private transfer to/from airport (not using the free TUI coach). This got us there quickly in just 30 mins to airport.||Our room was great, clean and spacious. Fridge was kept stocked up with a large bottle of water everyday, plus cans of soft drinks etc restocked as required. We loved the location of this room, it has it's own private small pool area in front and being a swim up had two sun loungers on our terrace plus a table and chairs. It felt a bit more exclusive than the main pool, with only the guests staying in our block using the pool - everyone else just headed straight into the main pool opposite with swim-up bar in. There was ice cream available by the bar, and there were plenty of sun loungers available for all guests to use. This block was great for the sun for the majority of the day too, but also had a good mix of shade when you wanted it.||We are glad we went for the Relaxed area, it had a good mix of things going on without being really quiet. We walked over to the Activity area - that definately wouldn't have been for us, far too hectic! But that is the good thing with this hotel - just choose to stay in the area that best suits you and what you enjoy, it's not about one area being better than the other.||You can book 2 visits to the á-la carte restaurants during your 7 night stay. There is a choice of 3, American, Italian or Greek. We went for the Italian (La Trattoria) and the Greek (Kuzina) - both of these had a great relaxed atmosphere and great food.||At lunchtime we just went to the Meraki food truck in the relaxed area - this had everything we needed for lunch and was run by a lovey fun lady called Debbie. Here you can get Burgers and fries, Chicken nuggets, Hot dogs etc. But you don't have to have fries everyday! There are also Toasted Sandwiches, Freshly made rolls (Tuna, Chicken, Ham and Cheese and also fresh salad bowls etc. We enjoyed a mixture of all the different lunch offerings during our stay. Debbie is a great personality, everything is "Yummy-Yummy!" Do try her "Yummy-Yummy Big Mouth Double Burger with Fries" - "Best burger in the whole universe" she says. To be fair she's not far wrong - decent burger with crisp fresh salad, onions etc.||The fact that you could get decent American style food from this truck at lunchtimes is the main reason why we didn't choose the American restaurant for one of our á-la carte restaurants in the evening.||The main buffet restaurant (Olive) is for your breakfast and also evening meals. There was a huge selection of food with different selections every night. No issues with the quality of food at all, we enjoyed everything we selected. All drinks are available self serve, Wine, Beers, Soft drinks etc. In the evenings they often have someone serving glasses of Prosecco, wine or Aperol Spritz etc - so little tip - worth going in there first to see what that evenings drink is before you self-serve at one of the machines.||The staff were great in the restaurant finding you a seat quickly. The only thing I would say about the Olive buffet restaurant is that it is very noisy and quite a manic experience at times! We affectionately referred to it as going to the "School Canteen" during our stay for this reason. Also, they don't really police the dress code very well in this restaurant despite having signs about the recommended dress code. We saw several people in there that looked like they had come straight from the pool, with very little effort to change for dinner. A shame as it does lower the overall standard as a whole.||We stayed in mid September and most of the other guests had babies/toddlers or pre-school age children. I guess that is due to the time of year, with schools having gone back. This might also be the reason the buffet restaurant was a bit noisier with lots of baby buggies parked up at the entrance. We didn't see that many other guests that were just couples. I would say 85% families / 15% couples (or groups of adult only friends) in relax area.||The evening entertainment was very heavily family themed for young kids, although there were still some things worth watching later, with singing/dancing put on by the entertainment team on the main stage who did a cracking job.||We found it quite pleasant to go over to the bar in Paaru (The Japanese Gastro Bar and Dining). You can eat here for an extra charge, not part of the all-inclusive package. We didn't eat here, but you can use the bar as part of the all-inclusive package. Also after 9pm it becomes an adult-only bar. This is a more sophisticated bar and was always a lovely relaxing place to enjoy some cocktails after having dinner in the "School Canteen". I don't think anyone really knows it's there as it was always so empty, just one or two other couples most evenings.||There is the Irish bar too. This is more of a Wetherspoons style pub with big screen sports and pool tables etc. To be honest we never went there, so can't comment on what that was like then. We either went for drinks in the Paaru bar or watched any entertainment on the big stage that took our fancy.||Having visited Rhodes before, we had seen many of the tourist sites, so were lazy this time around. We just walked to places nearby. We enjoyed walking to the Kolymbia Harbor (15 mins) and having a drink at the El Verano Beach House in the late afternoon. There is also the 'I Love Kolympia' sign for a photo opportunity, and the Kolybia Shipwreck on another stretch of beach with bars/restaurants (20 mins).||There are a selection of shops just outside the hotel. The first one you come to after turning left outside the main hotel entrance sells lots of pool inflatables at great prices - cheaper than Amazon! We picked up an inflatble here. So no need to buy these until you get there. Also most guests leave their pool inflatables on the racks near the pools once they go home, so you can easily find some to use.||If we were to go here again then I would probably upgrade to the Deluxe option if it was offered at a decent price, just to get the added benefit of the exclusive use of the Cosmopolitan restaurant for breakfast and dinner, thus avoiding the hectic Olive restaurant. But otherwise this is a great hotel, that we felt was good value for money for the deal we got in the TUI sale. We would normally select adult only resorts, so while this is more of a family hotel we still had a great time. All the staff were friendly and helpful across the board, it was clean and tidy, lifeguards on duty by the pool, grounds well maintained - no reason to fault anything about our stay.||We had a late private transfer pick-up (8pm) for evening flight home at 11:30pm. So we booked a late room checkout and were able to keep our room until 6pm. Top tip. If you sign-up to the free Atlantica Loyalty Club before your stay you get a membership number, this gives you a discount on the late checkout room charge.||Don't panic if you read negative reviews. We did witness a few guests getting very angry and complaining to staff. One was moaning about having to pay the hotel tax when checking in and made a scene, then there were others moaning to staff in restaurants etc, but we think that was more that they were stressed out being on holiday with their young kids than anything...
Read moreJust returned back from a two week holiday at the Atlantica HV Rhodes. Firstly, we had a lovely holiday at this hotel and overall was pleased we chose the Atlantica HV Rhodes. But, I wouldn't say this is a 5 star hotel. More of a solid 4*!||OUR ROOM / RELAX AREA: On the whole, I have no real complaints or issues, we stayed in the Relax area, the room was fine, maybe a little dated (especially the bathroom) , but we had no issues, and it served our purposes absolutely fine. The relax pool area was nice, the staff at the bar there worked very hard so if there was ever a queue for a drink, you didn't have to wait long. One comment I saw on TripAdvisor before we went was in relation to the music playing all day at the Relax pool area. Although it isn't a big issue, the music wasn't great, and is definitely more suited to club 18-30 in Ibiza. Also it was very repetitive. We never had any issue getting a sun lounger, and there was always a lifeguard on scene and she would actively patrol the pools which I thought was good. ||FOOD / DRINK: To be fair, the food was decent, and probably at the top end of what I have experienced in a European all inclusive. We ate in 2 of the 3 ala carte restaurants, the HV Diner was really good. I heard the Italian was also really nice although we didn't manage to eat there. The Greek was a nice change, across the road in the Tropical area, bit of peace and quiet. You get 2 visits to the ala carte restaurants whether you stay for a week, 10 days or 2 weeks. This is a bit unfair, it should be 2 visits per week (So 4 if staying for a fortnight).||The main buffet restaurant. This is probably my only complaint/moan. The food was fine, and we always found something we liked. But the buffet restaurant is chaos. Often you had to queue to get in to the restaurant, creating a huge bottleneck of people jostling for position, and some people who sat in the snack bar area where there was more seating, trying to carry plates of food through the crowd. Once inside, it was always very chaotic. The seating area is just to small to cater for the amount of people in the hotel. As it is outside (although covered) with some open sides, the air-conditioning doesn't adequately keep the area cool so it is also extremely hot. I personally don't like to sit sweating while eating my dinner. A couple of other little bits (trivial i know), at breakfast, there is no fresh milk by the drink stations for tea. So if you wanted a cup of tea, and didn't want to use coffee creamer, you had to then negotiate a very busy restaurant carrying a cup of boiling hot water, to get some fresh milk by the cereal. A very quick fix, have milk by the 2 drinks statins? Also, there is only sugar dispensers on every 3rd table. So it was a lottery whether there was a sugar dispenser on your table or you'd have to hunt round for one. Again, have sachets of sugar at the drinks stations, this would be much easier. Two small things, that could be easily remedied. But the big fix needs to be extending the size of the buffet restaurant, needs to be extended by 50%. ||The all inclusive drinks were ok, what you'd expect from an AI. The Irish bar was decent, never got to busy, air-conditioned, TV's showing sport. They should have soft drinks dispensers available for self service at the bars! Will save time if you don't want an alcoholic drink. ||The options for lunch snacks I thought were really good. The 'Yummy Yummy' food van (as my son called it) was great. The lady there 'Debbie' is absolutely bonkers, but makes you feel so welcome, very chatty and so friendly, prepare to hear 'YUMMY YUMMY' a lot!. She is a real character. The main snack bar and noodle bar were very good as well. Plenty of choice. I was impressed by the snack options, they were decent. ||OTHER: The water park is great, a nice addition and my son loved it. He is 4 so couldn't go on all the slides, but still had the lazy river, pirate ship, splash area and a couple of slides. The entertainment was O.K. Maybe not as good as the HV I've visited in Cyprus if I'm honest, but it was ok. My son did the swim academy, 5 lessons was 45Euro which I thought was reasonable. The 2 girls who took his lessons were great, really nice and attentive and he loved his lessons, a big thumbs up for them. Also have to give a shout out to the chap on the customer relations desk in the main reception, he was really nice and helpful. ||LOCAL AREA: We have been to Kolymbia before so sort of knew what to expect. There isn't a great deal to do in the local area, the main strip has a few shops and bars and gift shops, nothing much though, and is about a 20 minute walk away. We ate in a few of the local tavernas nearby, and they were really good and not to expensive. We took advantage of the shuttle bus service from the hotel to visit Rhodes and Lindos in the evening. 12Euro per person return, much easier and cheaper than the TUI trips if you just want free time to look round yourself. Bus picks up from hotel reception and was prompt and well organised. ||OVERALL: So, overall we had a really nice holiday. The staff were friendly and worked hard. The hotel grounds are great and well maintained. Our room was fine, albeit slightly dated. A couple of other little trivial things but really the only issue is the buffet restaurant being so busy and chaotic. I would 100% come back, but if you love the Holiday Village concept, try the Aliathon Resort in Cyprus. I think it just slightly topped this hotel if I am honest.||But if you are going to the Atlantica HV Rhodes, I honestly think you will have a...
Read moreHonest Review of Our 2-Week Stay – 3 Adults & 1 Child|We recently returned from a 2-week stay at this hotel, traveling as a group of 3 adults and 1 child. Here’s our comprehensive and honest review:||✈️ Arrival & Check-In|We arrived at around 11 PM following a flight from Gatwick. We pre-booked a private transfer with VIP Elite — a great service offering cool refreshments and a safe, quick journey to the hotel.|Check-in was fast (under 5 minutes), largely because we completed the online check-in via the Atlantica App the morning before. Highly recommend doing this to speed things up. You’ll also need the Holiday Villages app to access activities and schedules. At check-in, be prepared to pay the tourist tax (€10 per night), either by card or cash.|We were welcomed with a drink, and our luggage was taken to our room — a Deluxe Swim-Up Room with Partition.||🛏️ Room & Cleanliness|The room was clean, with a spacious bathroom and daily towel replacements. However, twice during our stay, no towels were left after cleaning — one time took 3 calls and over 3 hours to resolve (not ideal when your child is sleeping). The second time, towels were brought within 15 minutes.|On arrival, the fridge was stocked with drinks — but no proper food. Just 3 small, inedible rolls (for 4 people), which was a huge letdown, especially for a hungry 5-year-old. We’ve stayed at other Atlantica hotels where food was available for late arrivals — this needs improving.||🍳 Dining – Deluxe vs Main Restaurant|Staying in the Deluxe area gave us access to the Cosmopolitan Restaurant — a definite plus. Breakfast here was calm, well-run, and high quality. Compare that to the chaotic main buffet: overcrowded, noisy, and very basic seating.|Breakfast options were extensive — full English, cereals, pastries, fresh fruit, and a live station for poached eggs and omelettes. The only drawback: the chef’s inconsistency with poached eggs. On one occasion, we received intimidating stares after sending back poorly cooked eggs. Thankfully, we spoke to Antonis one of the F&B managers, who went above and beyond from then on. He ensured perfect eggs daily, often checking them himself.|Anontis also invited us to dine at the new Japanese restaurant (deluxe area). This was a standout experience — a 5-course set menu with beautifully crafted dishes and cocktails prepared by Anontis himself. Truly memorable.|We also had 2 extra à la carte meals arranged by Anontis — as we were disappointed to learn the standard allowance is only 2 meals per stay, even for 2-week guests (most resorts offer 2 per week). Reception confirmed this policy rather abruptly and didn’t allow us to pay for more.||🍽️ Food & Snack Outlets|* Deluxe Restaurant (Dinner): Elegant setup with lovely rotating menus. Check the daily menu outside before deciding.|* Main Buffet: Total mayhem from 6–7:30 PM. Fully self-service, including drinks. We avoided it after one visit.|* Noodle Bar: Fresh and tasty, but large portions — smaller portion options would help reduce waste.|* Debbie’s Food Truck: Debbie is a gem! Warm, kind, and full of energy. Great burgers, chips, toasties, salads, and yogurt in takeaway containers.|* Pizza & Gyros Bar: Fresh and delicious. Short wait times, but well worth it.|* Ice Cream Galleria: Disappointing. Limited flavours and extra charge for waffles — unlike other all-inclusives where these are standard. Near the end of our trip, crepes and more ice cream were added to the deluxe area, but we didn’t get to try them.||🏖️ Pools & Facilities|* Deluxe Pool: Quiet and relaxing. No issues finding sunbeds. Our room (4302) got sun from 1 PM. Note: no rooms have all-day sun.|* Relax & Activity Pools: Brief visits, but both clean and pleasant. Swim-up bar at the relax pool is a nice touch.|* Waterpark: Great for kids, but the area near the high ropes often smelled bad. Floors can get very hot — water shoes recommended.|* Play Park: Brilliant for children. Some shaded areas. A great evening hangout for parents and kids.|* Entertainment Team: Engaging, kind, and great with kids. Plenty of activities for families.||💫 Staff & Service|The staff are what truly elevate this hotel:|* Sophia: Had our drinks ready each morning without us asking. Experienced and professional.|* Vasiliki: Lovely with our daughter, always attentive and warm.|* Manolis (Deluxe Restaurant): Efficient and friendly. On one night when my husband disliked his meal, he insisted on bringing a new one — no hesitation.| Anontis: A total standout. Professional, caring, and passionate about guest experience. His personal attention and ability to act on feedback made a big impact.||✅ Overall Summary|Would we return? Yes, mainly due to the outstanding staff and the deluxe experience. The hotel still has areas to improve:| Better late arrival food provision|* More consistent towel service|* Reconsider à la carte policy for longer stays|* Improve ice cream/snack variety|We usually stay at TUI Sensatori resorts, and while this hotel isn’t quite on that level in every area, it holds its ownthanks to the deluxe options and personal service — especially from Anontis and the deluxe...
