The Lost Atlantis Museum in Santorini offers a unique and engaging experience that blends mythology, history, and modern technology. The museum utilizes various interactive exhibits, including holograms, videos, and a large diorama, to bring the story of Atlantis to life. This makes it appealing us and our teenage child. There was a 9D movie and we wore special lunettes given to us by the museum, the movie that simulates the destruction of Atlantis. With special effects like water sprays, wind, and rumbling seats, it provides a truly immersive experience. The museum also explores the theory that Santorini may be the inspiration behind the Atlantis myth, linking the legend to the island's volcanic history. The museum provides informative content about Plato's writings, the legend of Atlantis, and the Minoan civilization on Santorini. It strikes a good balance between entertainment and education. The museum is relatively small and can be explored in one or one and half hours. The museum tickets is relatively high. The Lost Atlantis Museum is a worthwhile visit for those interested in mythology, history, and interactive experiences. It's particularly engaging for families with children. While it might not be the largest museum, it offers a memorable and informative experience that connects the legend of Atlantis to the unique history of Santorini.

This museum is an absolute must-visit in Santorini! I went in purely out of curiosity and was completely blown away. The way they present the history and myth of Atlantis is truly engaging. The 9D (or 3D/4D/5D) Experience is phenomenal—it’s an incredibly immersive and thrilling simulation that lets you feel the cataclysmic volcanic eruption and tsunami that are theorized to have destroyed the city. It was the highlight of the visit! What I found most intriguing was the history I was previously unaware of regarding the compelling evidence and theories that link the island's volcanic eruption and the ancient Minoan civilization of Akrotiri to Plato's account of Atlantis. The interactive exhibits, holograms, and dioramas do an amazing job of making this ancient history come to life and strongly suggest the potential that this location was the inspiration, or even the actual site, of the lost city. Highly recommend for anyone interested in history, mythology, or just looking for a genuinely unique and amazing interactive experience!

This is a new museum with plenty of parking and a thoroughly modern approach. We paid our €24, donned our gloves for the touch screen displays in a covid world and were then guided through the origins of the Atlantis myth and how it relates to Santorini by various interactive exhibits. The 9D film of the destruction of Thera and the volcanic eruption was great fun - water sprays, vibrating seats etc so it was very immersive (excuse the pun). The tour continued with a diorama of what Plato's Atlantis looked like and how it was run and then alternative locations for Atlantis and their origins. It was a fantastic time and would be great for families too, it's just a shame that we were the only visitors. It was certainly money well spent and the staff were great, very helpful and enthusiastic with better English than most Bristolians!

Something different to do on Santorini than walk in Thira and Oia that are way too crowded for any one with any sense at all.

This place is very informative about many aspects of the myth and the philosopher who wrote it. The staff is also very welcoming and nice but did not seem to listen to my questions about the fall of tye Minoans.

The highlight of the visit is definitely the 9D (nine-dimensional) movie around ten minutes long about the myth and what happened to the city and the upper floor is very good with equipment that allows one to explore in their own way and speed, but lacks auditory information.

I am giving it a four star-review because of the complete absence of any conflicting scientific theories; such as the firm belief (from the museum) that the Minoan eruption was sole reason for the fall of the Minoans. This has not been confirmed nor denied, however the general scientific consensus seems to be that it contributed to the Minoans' fall; but was not the only or the direct cause. State of the art technology however weighs up this lack of scientific method displayed. Maybe the philosopher is certain that the eruption was the only cause, in this case it is important to be extremely clear with informing about this and that there Are different versions about what happened after...

Really enjoyed this and it was something a bit different. I didn’t know about the Lost Atlantis Experience until I saw the poster at the airport. We just went on a whim on the last day and are really glad we did! The exhibits are presented in engaging ways (so good for people who maybe don’t like traditional museums, and kids) and the 9D experience was surprisingly good quality! I was expecting some of the dimensions to be heat or sulphurous smell as it is about a volcano, but that’s maybe something for them to think about in the future. It was still really fun. I had no idea the story of Atlantis might be based on Santorini and found the arguments presented quite convincing! My only 2 suggestions would be that I found there were too many staff/ guides- we really didn’t need someone to guide us around each section and it felt a bit awkward/ clunky as a result. One person to introduce us to the concept downstairs and the photo both upstairs would have been sufficient (and of course to operate the 9D). But this didn’t affect the enjoyment. I would also like to have learned more about Plato’s thoughts on ethics and how that was portrayed through the story of Atlantis. Overall though, a great was to spend an hours, really fun, different and...
