Nirmala Birla Gallery — Attraction in Hyderabad

This has been the dream child of Smt Nirmala Birla who has taken so much effort in collecting these paintings and artefacts over the decades. The Modern Art Gallery was inaugurated by the then Chief Minister of Andhra Pradesh, Sri N. Chandrababu Naidu on February 01, 2003. Some of the salient features of the gallery include : A painting titled ‘Krishna’ by Jamini Roy The fascinating work by Amitabh Banerjee titled ‘gossip’ Paritosh Sen’s ‘on the Swing’ Akbar Padamsee’s 1922 Samir Aich’s ‘The Women 1994’ Tayyub mehta’s ‘untitled’ and many many more.., Other eminent painters are Krishan Khanna, Amitava Dhar, Laxma Goud, Surya Prakash, Akbar Padamsee, Sudhir Patwardhan and so on. Their work will also be appreciated by the art lovers and general public. art gallery Nirmala Birla Gallery -2 Among the modern sculptures, a huge bronze figure by the famous sculptor Meera Mukherjee is of outstanding importance. Among the other noted sculptors of the country such as Chintamani Kar, Bimal Kundu, Manik Talukdar, Somnath Hoare and Niranjan Pridhan are of great artistic value. The Bronze representing ‘Jala Kanya’ by Chintamani Kar is another master piece in the collection. Yet another master piece by Ajit Chakraborthy labeled as ‘Cupid’, a boy in standing position is of aesthetic value. The uniqueness of this gallery is that this is the one and only Art Gallery comprising the works of almost all famous artists of India on permanent display following the modern display methods in India and in particular in the State of Telangana.
