This is the oldest Vishnu temple and the 2nd largest temple after Sri Kashi Vishwanath. Quoting Skand Puran from Kashi khand the story tells that this place was anand van initially and became kashi once Emperor Divo Das appointed king of this ancient place by lord bramha. Later on the name changed as Banaras at the time of the Mughal Empire and is currently known as Varanasi with the reason of the geographical location between two holi rivers Varuna and Assi. according to the mythology lord Vishnu donated this kashi to Lord Shiva as Mata Parvati and Lord Shiv loved this place while roaming to the universe. Lord Shiva refused to get the whole Kashi and requested Lord Vishnu to stay with him for half of the portion. That's the reason kashi is divided into two parts: Shive kashi and Vishnu kashi. You can find all the Shiva temples from Assi to Manikarnika Ghat and later on from Panch Ganga to Aadikeshav as Vishnu temples. As Sri Kashi Vishwanath is the supreme God for Shiv kashi , Sri Bindumadhav is the supreme power of the other half. I must say all the people who visited the Vishwanath temple, must visit Sri Bindumadhav to complete their spiritual journey of this Holi place as Shiv and Vishnu are not two individuals here and live together in it. शिवस्य हृदयम विष्णु, विष्णुस्य हृदयम शिवम्।। हर हर महादेव।। ॐ नमो...
