What fun! We only came for the sessions and a pint, but the music was grand! It was absolutely packed with people - no room to sit anywhere downstairs, but there is a quieter upstairs room that we occupied while waiting for the musicians to start. The service is bar only, so one of us had to fight through the scrum to order, then manage to get back out with the drinks. The crowd was cheerful, friendly, and generally welcoming, but it was crowded. The musicians played whatever they wanted and we listened appreciatively. There wasn't a singer, so it was just instrumental, with three violins, a guitar, mandolin, flute/pennywhistle player, and a piper. The tunes ranged from lively dance music to mournful ballads to American classic rock. It was all great.

This is a traditional Irish bar. No food, just drinks and companionship. They have the longest running trad (since 1972). If you love being in tight places, with fantastic beer, great service at the bar, and experience trad music, this is a must visit location. We went two nights in a row and enjoyed it. The first night was packed, but there is an upstairs area that allowed us to listen to the music, but still have conversation. The lower level was packed. On the second night we got to the bar by 549, grab the few remaining seats, enjoyed a pint, and listened to the music. It was a completely different experience, and very fun. Try them both, post a train ticket or dollar on the wall and know you are part of history.

The reason for the poor rating is that my friend was threatened and intimated by a musician who was performing there for taking a video of his performance. The guy followed him into the bathroom and said he would assault him if he filmed again. My friend informed staff members about the incident but they just brushed him off. Not a welcoming place for someone visiting the city for the first time and I will for sure avoid it. I attached a video and photo of the man who soon after it was taken followed my friend and threatened to physically assault him in the bathroom.

It’s amazing and traditional Irish pub 😍 I loved every moment what I got here. Here I drank Guinness beer for the first time in my life 😊 it was fresh and really delicious. There wasn’t free place for us but the staff was really kind and they asked a young couple about sharing their table with us. I could experience Irish hospitality 💚 There was also live Irish music 🎵 the fireplace was working… anybody was kind and happy 😊 I loved this amazing atmosphere. I will definitely visit this pub when I go back Cork ♥️ I highly recommend it

If you want a real authentic Irish pub, this is a real gem. Packed with locals and often with live music, it’s populated enough by locals that tourists are in the minority but are also welcomed warmly and embraced by the patrons. There’s a great range of drinks and - as you’d expect - the whiskeys are well worth exploring. Overall, it was the live music that really made it. The place is so small it’s amazing that so many musicians could actually squeeze in, but they had the place rocking and having a great time.

Super neat, small Irish pub. It was nice because they had speakers all around the bar so no matter where you sit, you can hear the live music well! There's a lot of artifacts, postcards, notes, and miscellaneous other things pinned to the walls and ceiling which makes it a fun bit to explore! Definitely get there early if there is a live band playing because there is limited seating! 100% recommend going here while in Cork!
