Awesome. Like being on the Continent while still being in Ireland. Lovely promenade to walk with loads of great places to eat, drink and get an ice-cream. There's a beach to swim at and then there's the Amusements, Arcades and the FunPark. The kids will love the day time activities and the adults will really enjoy the night life. Everyone should experience Salthill in Galway.

A beautiful place with fantastic views of Galway bay. The prom walk starts at the Claddagh and ends just past BlackRock. If the tide is out you may make it to Silverstand, but I've never done that. One thing to note is that the sun only sets on Galway bay in the winter, mainly December, if you are looking from the Salthill prom.

A long coastal prom, wide footpath that accommodates kids, dog walkers, strollers and runners. Traffic is usually busy, during peak hours and the free parking is great but can be hard to find a space. Some nice coffee shops.

Always amazing. Disgusted that there is going to be restricted driving, only one way on the Prom to facilitate cycling. They ruined Dublin coast road now bringing their narrow selfish thoughtlessness to Galway. No one is thinking of the elderly, those who are compromised physically in any way either permantently or temporally, whose small enjoyment is to be driven up and down the Prom, to park along the Prom to view the world and feel part of it. How cruel to...

Low tide gives the opportunity to walk miles of lovely beach. Dogs are allowed in the off-season. A wonderful view across Galway Bay to The Burren on the southern side. Blackrock diving tower dominates the foreland, jutting out from the end of the Prom - a hugely popular swimming area. There’s Ladies Beach, with covered changing area, and at the end of the Prom (where you’ll see people ‘kick the wall’) is the lovely restored Blackrock Cottage...
