Gourmet Food Parlour Salthill — Restaurant in Galway

Based on family and friends recommendations, we were out for the day and decided to order food from here.

I will concede that this time is just after New Years. I will concede that we are still in a Covid-19 Lockdown. I will concede to wanting to support businesses/restaurants during this challenging time.

Well folks, the food was terrible! Had it been served on a plate and looked the way it did I would have sent it back and genuinely, left the restaurant.

I'm guessing that because it was Take Away it was a way not to throw away a portion of food.

I was sharing this with my wife and was I thankful for that! Had we bought two, this would be a different review. The dish?! Turkey and Ham, felt/didn't taste like it was at all fresh but was the last portion in a long day of being dehydrated.

The nicest tasting (and that IS generous) part was the mash which helped to disguise how bad the rest of the meal was.

Now, the real annoyance here is that I arrived on time for to collect the meal but still had to wait for it. 😔 In my mind, there was an opportunity here to suggest changing the dish.

Maybe I am being overly harsh when I say, I don't have a dog but I think one may have looked at this and looked at me with an expression of: Are you kidding? and then walk away with it's head hung low.

This food really wasn’t great. Everything on the menu is written very well, but what comes on the plate is very different to what is advertised.

The wait for the food was exceptionally long, it felt like the day we were there the restaurant was understaffed, possibly, so i will give them grace on that.

Two of the people at my table ordered breakfasts, the poached eggs came and the yolks were powdery that’s how overcooked they were. The food looked as if it had been sitting on the pass and was being cooked. thankfully the staff was very helpful in replacing the eggs for runny ones.

i ordered the chicken burger. it was said to be a panko breaded hot honey chicken breast but what came was very clearly a bulk buy frozen chicken breast and definitely didn’t live up to the way it was advertised. there was no slaw on the burger, and the toppings that were there were not very generous. in a similar vein the chicken roll was underwhelming to put it kindly. the cheese was barely there and again it wasn’t very gourmet it really was something you could get in centra for a third of the price.

the food was fine, but for the price that you’re paying it definitely isn’t worth it at all. the menu definitely glorifies what you get so be wary of that.

Was here for breakfast Saturday morning 16/09/23. It's fair to say I've visited here on at least 6 previous occasions in the last 3 years and generally no complaints. Unfortunately our food yesterday was very poor. The 3 of our breakfasts came out warm to cold. Even my wife's coffee came out practically cold and she had to ask for hot milk to warm it up, but even that came to the table just warm. The "grilled" tomatoes were obviously taken very cold out of the fridge and blasted for 30 seconds under the grill because they were warm on the outside and still cold inside for 2 of our breakfast. My gut feeling also was that the fried potatoes on the plate were reheated from being previously cooked, possibly the night before being that it was breakfast time. I asked for a 2nd coffee, and it wasn't till we decided to go, and I was about to say cancel the coffee that they suddenly remembered it and of course said it was on the way. To be fair, the coffee was the best part of the breakfast, and even though I finished my breakfast, this was simply because I'd a long day ahead of me. My wife made very little impact on her breakfast and apart from the toast, she ate very little of it. Overall disappointing because I have enjoyed this...
