Papa Rich — Restaurant in Galway

We booked a table for 6 people for 7.30pm for a birthday dinner. We arrived on time and got seated at our table which was already prepared for us with menus, cutlery and water jugs. It took 25 mins for the waitresses to come and take our order where we ordered starters and mains. We waited almost 1 hour and still no starters had arrived and we had tried multiple times to get the attention of staff for an update on our food but we where ignored and staff walked away. One of the members of our table was given her starter and waited for the rest of the group to get their food before eating, after 10 mins a male staff member approached us took the starter away again and said its not ready and left the table without giving us time to ask any question. We then seen him enter kitchen with this plate and leave again to give it to another customer. after some time again we where approached with x1 main dish where we then explained we had not yet gotten our starters the waitress walked off without explanation taking the main away again. about 10 mins later we got x4 of the starters and when I had to approach the desk after considerable time again waiting on the 5th I was told the soup I ordered they do not have on the menu. it was on the menu and the lady took the order for it along with the other starters. we then said the rest of our party had finnished their starters now and just to cancel the soup and bring the mains. she then followed with soup which was not the soup ordered followed by a side of chips which was supposed to come for the table with our mains which we did not get for a following 20 mins. at this point it was 9.15pm we had 3 children who where over hungry and felt sick and could not eat the food, most of which was not how we ordered it either. overall we had a horrible evening here left 2 hours after our booked time hungry with 3 very unhappy children. Where do I start? Waitress appeared like she did not want to be there. While we were waiting to be seated, she just ignored us initially. When we eventually were showed to our table, she displayed a horrible attitude by dumping all the menus on our table.

Food was not authentic at all. This is coming from a family from south east Asia (SEA). We ordered several dishes including: Har Mee, which stands for prawn noodles in soup in SEA but we were thoroughly disappointed when they served us fried prawn noodles instead Kuey tiao, which we expected to be dry noodles, but was served in sticky and sweet sauce. This again was very disappointing, as it tasted like any whitewashed Chinese take out.

We only continued eating as it is within our culture to not waste food. Nonetheless, I would not recommend this restaurant to anyone craving for authentic Asian food as it is not representative of our rich culture. There are better options within Galway, e.g. Mama Rich. Interesting to know that they both share similar names but are polar opposites of each other in terms of quality of food...

Disappointed to say the least, booked in advance for 5 people, turned up on time, and waited 10 minutes for seating in a restaurant that was "less busy than usual." Not a biggie, but then it went downhill. Other tables had orders taken until we had to ask for someone to attend to ours. The slide was on. All 5 orders were written down, and then we were hit with an unusual request. "The kitchen is very busy, and can we leave all starters & mains to the table at the same time, or you'll be about 20 minutes waiting for the mains," to which we agreed. Not a problem for our schedule until mains & 3 starters arrived with the 2 late starters, no pun intended, arriving some 5 mins later. Obviously, we'd all tucked into our mains, so things got a little confusing to the palate. What wasn't confusing was that 2 of the mains were clearly not hot enough on arrival. Lesson learned, and highly unlikely to be back anytime soon, if ever. A sad end to a once healthy relationship 😢 and still no sign of that side order of chips 😞.
