We had been on a long awaited visit to see friends and family having just arrived from the UK in what seemed like a nice pub with a good atmosphere. We bought in a steady supply of drinks, but within 1 hour of arriving a woman we are told was the manager came over. She indicated the empty glasses and suggested we were "taking up tables" by "not buying drinks" even though we had clearly been buying in quantities.
There were lots of empty tables to spare and we were not rowdy or causing problems for the other patrons.
The woman then interrogated each member of the table individually into buying more drinks, bullying people into it instead of trusting that a nice atmosphere would cause us to stay and buy more. I felt mortified, cheap, ridiculed and embarrassed. We finished our pints quickly and left in a hurry.
Safe to say I will never be drinking there again. The most unwelcoming and discriminatory atmosphere I've ever experienced in what should be a nice local pub. I have never experienced such a...
Read moreThis is a really nice pub/bar. There are two sides to it. One side is the bar, which is more modern but has a very homely feel to it. Nice place for a date or just a nice casual drink. On the other side, you have the bigger bar. it's very open and has a fireplace very modern but classy. Great for groups and again nice drinks. Have a wide range of drinks, beers, and spirits. They have drinks menu on the tables with all they have to offer. It is a little bit pricey, but it's worth the extra few euros for the atmosphere and the visual effects. Staff are friendly and attentive and always have a smile on their faces. The smoking area is bicoy done that even if you were not a smoker, you would sit out in it. It's up beside mc donalds on the main street across from the busstop too, so makes it handy if u want to get a bus home or stop and gran a quick bit along the way. It's...
Read moreThis has been one of our favourite pubs since moving to Bray, with warm, professional service every time. We have been regular visitors on Sunday evenings to enjoy the wonderful live music from 6.30pm of LR Project, playing a delighful selection of Latin jazz, bossa nova and classic songs. They played at Bray Jazz festival in 2023 and the previous Duffs management had secured them to play every Sunday for the past year. However, last night the new management twice requested them to turn down their volume because alledgedly someone in the bar complained. They have never been asked this before, they play at a volume appropriate to the rear area and couldn't be heard from the bar..I walked around and checked. My fear is we will lose this...
