Museo Archeologico Nazionale delle Marche — Attraction in Ancona

Visited the museum on a Friday with children. Children under 18 have free admission.

The building itself is lovely. There are renovations underway, but it is still possible to come to the exhibits. The building is not air conditioned but there is a vending machine on the ground floor with cold drinks.

There are a lot of materials, and some very beautiful and interesting objects. Everything is labeled in Italian and the information placards are also in Italian. Some of the objects are also labeled in English and there are 9 objects (throughout the whole museum) with short explanations available in English for children and adults by using a QR code on mobile.

With better explanatory and educational materials in English, etc, the museum would have really great potential to engage foreign visitors in the history of the area, especially if there also was a track for children. As it is now, it is a lot of interesting things without...

Il museo presenta una collezione di valore inestimabile ed è situato all'interno di uno splendido edificio che si affaccia sul porto di Ancona, offrendo una vista meravigliosa. Nonostante queste note positive, mi permetto di lasciare alcune critiche che spero possano essere costruttive al fine di valorizzare un museo così importante. In primo luogo, trovo che non poter pagare con il pos, essendo anche il bancomat più vicino non proprio nei pressi della struttura, sia una fastidiosa mancanza. Siamo nel 2023, ormai con il pos è possibile pagare quasi tutto e in un museo è davvero inaccettabile che questo non sia permesso, anche perché non si tratta di una bancarella, ma di un museo, appunto. Di turisti ce ne sono, soprattutto provenienti dall'estero, non poter pagare con la carta è un vincolo, è più difficile avere contanti quando si viaggia e a maggior ragione si tratta di persone straniere provenienti anche da fuori Europa. Un'altra nota è la mancanza delle descrizioni in inglese, ammetto di non averle lette tutte ma ho notato la loro mancanza su alcuni degli oggetti più importanti. Ciò è inammissibile, come possono i turisti che scendono dalle navi da crociera, settimanalmente, capire ciò che leggono? Per quanto riguarda l'allestimento non sono un'esperta e non voglio dilungarmi, però penso possa essere carino aggiungere schermi interattivi, materiali multimediali e cose di questo tipo, soprattutto per i bambini delle scuole che visitano spessissimo il museo ma anche per renderlo più moderno, migliorando anche le luci. A parte questo di visitare il museo ne vale la pena, in quanto offre delle collezioni davvero ricche di valore, perciò tutto sommato lo consiglio poiché preziosissimo e per la gentilezza...

I have not been to many archeological museums, but this one is amazing. It chronicles the history of humans in the Ancona region for the past 27,000 years. There are thousands (no joke) artifacts from many tombs catalogued throughout the area. It is amazing to see the advances in technology and artistic skill through the items people chose to be buried with. And the building is amazing too. Just all so stunning.
