And the pizza—wow! Every bite was absolute perfection. The crust was the ideal balance of crispy and chewy, the sauce had just the right amount of tang and sweetness, and the toppings were fresh, flavorful, and generously portioned.

Matas 54 is hands down the best pizza I had in Ancona—authentic Neapolitan style! I’m genuinely surprised it’s not more popular in travel guides yet. We stumbled upon it while walking from the Duomo to the historic centre, drawn in by the incredible smell coming from the place.

The pizzas are beautifully composed with a soft, fluffy crust—exactly how I love it. We also enjoyed a perfectly made Aperol Spritz and a cold beer, which added to the experience.

There was a longer wait as a family celebration was taking place, but it was absolutely worth it. What really stood out was the kind and attentive staff—they were genuinely concerned about the wait and even offered us a discount.
