Two colleagues and I traveled from the US to Ancona, Italy for a university exchange. We were originally placed in another hotel near the train station but did not feel that that was the safest area for three females, nor were we pleased with the size of our hotel rooms.

We spent our first night in Ancona searching online for a new hotel and narrowed it down to the Grand Hotel Palace and one other hotel. We ultimately decided on the Grand Hotel Palace because of the location near the main shopping streets (Giuseppe Mazzini and Giuseppe Garibaldi).

When we arrived, we felt right at home! The hotel management and staff were so friendly! Two of the three rooms were not ready, but they put those rooms on priority to ensure that we could get inside our rooms in a timely manner. We only had to wait about 15 minutes until they were ready.

The rooms and bathrooms are spacious and have quite some personality. Rooms on different floors look different inside and are all nicely decorated with fun colors and artwork (I had a lime green tile bathroom with crystal chandeliers and a horse purse/key holder).

Every time we left or returned to the Grand Hotel Palace, the staff greeted us and remembered our names and room numbers. Susanna and Guillermo (Mr. William as I called him) were the most polite and friendly. They were sincerely inquisitive and offered great suggestions for nearby shopping, dining, and local traveling.

The Grand Hotel Palace is in close proximity to the nearby shopping and dining/aperitivo, the harbor, and the Passetto. You can take a taxi to train station which will allow quick transport to nearby cities.

Aside from Susanna and William's pleasant disposition, the thing I enjoyed most during my stay at the Hotel Palace was the view of the Adriatic sea from my 3rd floor window. I saw the sun rise and set most days, always looked out onto the water, and listened to the birds during dawn.

The Grand Hotel Palace will definitely be where I stay if I ever return to Ancona and I will be dreaming of the sea for...

We stayed at the Grand Palace Hotel in Ancona from July1-5 ,2024 in a suite with a water view balcony based on a Wine Spectator article. This hotel exceeded all expectations in terms of Service, Quality, Value, Cleanliness and Friendliness.|The front desk service was friendly, efficient, and helpful. Their dinner recommendations were excellent as were their advice on visits and tours. They went above and beyond by calling our next hotel in Bari and securing us a room a day early. Although we were past our cancellation date, we were not charged for leaving a day early. |The entire excellent atmosphere is a reflection on how the Hotel is run and managed. We were fortunate to express this to Paolo the GM.|We also visited the associated winery , Umani Ronchi and were blown away by the passion , enthusiasm and knowledge of our guide, Ivan. His knowledge extended to the unique features of the cellars, comparisons with wines of the region and insights on wines worldwide which led to vibrant discussions and comparisons. We enjoyed tastings and chatted in an unhurried environment. We have visited most major wine regions of the world, and Ivan’s passion, knowledge and enthusiasm surpassed all other visits. A certified sommelier, his response to our compliments was that his motto is “kindness and honesty”.|We later learnt that there were 3 guides of similar caliber, a tribute to the Bernetti family and the...

I stayed for one night. Coming down from the Dolomites I took the train to Ancona and needed a place for the night before taking the ferry to cross the Adriatic Croatia. The Grand Hotel Palace is perfectly situated 5 minutes walking from the Ancona Sea Port Authority, cafes, restaurants and bars a stone throw away. The hotel staff is knowledgeable and friendly. The breakfast spread is incredible — a buffet is available with hot and cold plates while there are small a la carte menu items you can choose from. There is a wine bar located in the hotel that is open during dinner time. The owner of the hotel also owns Umani Ronchi Vineyards producers of Marche and Abruzzo grapes. I tried the white sparkling wine and was in heaven.

This hotel was amazing. Our room was gorgeous with all possible amenities and a beautiful view of the sea. But, best of all, was the bend-over-backwards service from every single employee in the hotel. The valet parking took care of the biggest problem in Italy. Prices were reasonable and the breakfast buffet was plentiful. We opted for dinner also and we’re not disappointed (see my separate review of Wine Not).

Wonderful hotel overlooking the port area of the city. Excellent service, very nice staff. Great comfortable rooms. This hotel gives a nice feeling of old world charm but is right up to date. We also had dinner in the hotel restaurant which was very good indeed. A good breakfast with plenty of choice. Car parking is available at an extra cost but parked in their secure parking. Would definitely recommend.
