Osteria Del Pozzo — Restaurant in Ancona

We wanted to eat fish...since we were near the sea. So we took some recommendations from our friends in the city. The place is clean, looks nice and the feeling was foretelling a nice dinner. My wife has a specific food allergy and we communicated that and were promised there is no onion in sight. But the service lagged, there were only one bar tender and one waiter/cook? It took forever to get our orders. The waiter was probably under influence of something because at some point she brought us the food for another table, it had onions, then the space since the first bottle of water and the second was worrying. But the food was very tasty, sea worthy I should say and we finished having satisfied our taste for the fish. Asking for a grappa I was recommended another brand which was indeed better. The desert however, was trying to be zuppa inglese...with little chance. Their skill in cooking fish is very good, it's a pity the rest was not at...

Desidero esprimere la mia profonda delusione riguardo alla recente visita presso la vostra osteria. Purtroppo, l'esperienza è stata tutt'altro che positiva. Il comportamento del personale è stato poco professionale, con una mancanza di attenzione nei confronti degli ospiti e gesti irrispettosi, come le smorfie alle spalle degli stessi. Il cameriere, anziché prendere le comande, cercava di ricordare a memoria gli ordini, risultando inefficace e dimenticando purtroppo due piatti che avevamo ordinato. Durante l'ordinazione, il gesto di farci tacere con la mano mentre dava indicazioni alle colleghe è stato inappropriato e poco professionale. Le vostre azioni hanno evidenziato una mancanza di professionalità e soprattutto di educazione. Dopo aver fatto notare alla cameriera che le smorfie alle spalle degli ospiti non sono appropriate, la sua risposta è stata: "Se sto facendo quelle smorfie, c'è un motivo. Fidati".

Non vi è permesso giudicare come un ospite gradisce pagare o quanto desidera spendere. Al momento del pagamento, ci siamo trovati di fronte a un conto errato con l'aggiunta di un piatto in più che avrebbe dovuto essere il sostitutivo di un antipasto. La vostra risposta alle lamentele sul conto errato è stata imbarazzante, con la ricevuta finale di €68,50 contrariamente al conteggio precedente di €72,50. ( 2 persone)

Siamo due coppie che lavorano nel settore turistico forse da meno tempo di voi ma con maggiore professionalità. Fino ad ora abbiamo sempre consigliato ristoranti ad Ancona con piacere, ma purtroppo l'esperienza presso la vostra osteria è stata così deludente che non possiamo fare altrettanto.

Contavamo su un'esperienza più piacevole e professionale, e ci auguriamo che questa valutazione possa fungere da stimolo per un miglioramento complessivo dei vostri...

We were pleasantly surprised by this place. The proprietor was very friendly and informative. He cautioned against ordering too much and was honest about the wine selections. We ordered the fish of the day for two - monkfish. It was unbelievably good, with shrimp, mussels, clams, potatoes and vegetables in a tomato and olive oil sauce. The only dessert we could consume was a couple of sparkling wines… at 3 euros each! The value for the money, the food and the service...
