On our anniversary to naples we decided to a day trip to capri, what a memorable day it would be, we got a return ticket on the hydrofoil worked out to around £100, what an absolute disaster, the weather wasn't great and we wasn't warned of the consequences, when we started the boat shook and bounced, it was scary, I've never been in a place where from direction people was being sick, the staff knew as they said its a norm for this weather, wish we was warned, my partner was sick I was very bad, eventually after 55 mins we got to land, but all we could think of was the return trip on how we'll get by it, the island was amazing it was quite season and majority of shops were shut but still didn't make the island any less enjoyable, we get a but to the top which was simple walked around couple of hours then attended anacapri which was pointless as nothing was open but still lovely views, on the way down we got talking to a lady that said they have cargo ships which go to naples, takes longer but bigger heavier boats so we spoke to snv and explained if we can change as we was going to be sick they just laughed and said not our problem so we had to pay again as there was no way we was going in...

Busy, fairly well organised but people wait & queue where they like regardless of staff.

You need to book the ferry that you want and make sure that you don't miss it. Which makes sense of course.

One couple missed their 4pm sailing so tried to catch the 5.45pm sailing only to be told it was full (which it definitely wasn't). Another couple were due to catch the next crossing after the 5.45pm one & were allowed on?!?!!?

So the first couple were sent back to the ticket office, presumably to spend another €21 each whilst the other couple were allowed on?!?!?! First couple Americans, second couple not?!?! Once we'd boarded there were plenty of empty seats in the front cabin. So absolutely no consistency whatsoever. The cynic in me would suggest that it's just another way of generating income, who knows?

The service was quick, the boat was clean and very comfortable. Disembarkation was quick. Our return ferry stopped at Sorrento whilst...

This is the most unprofessional marina in the Amalfi coast. It also happens to be the most expensive marina in the World!!! They also treat small yachts (

Marina Grande is the main port of the island of Capri and at the foot of Beautiful Mount Solaro. if you are coming to Capri by any mode ( yacht, ferry, private boat) you will get down here. Its 40 euro pp (up & down) to get here from Sorrento Port. The ride can be very aggressive. Though ferry was big, still ride was some sort of Disney ride. I would say that’s not at all smooth ride that I can say. Motion sickness issues - mind it, folks. In the immediate proximity of the ferry docks, you'll find a Tourist Office, the departure point for the tour of the island, and the port authority office, behind which there are the ticket offices for all the navigational companies, and the island's buses and funicular train. The view of Capri from Port is marvelous. Beautiful colorful buildings, Monte Solaro summit covered in clouds, all make it postcard scene.
