Came here as other reviews said they had gluten free sandwiches - the menu also said on the panini page gluten free bread €1.50 extra - however, they wouldn’t do this. I still don’t understand why, bit of a communication problem. They said they could give me a main dish with gluten free bread but wasn’t clear why not a sandwich. I already had to pay extra for the bread didn’t want to pay extra for a main as well.
First waiter was very huffy but asked another for assistance who was friendly and helpful - he brought me in the restaurant to show me some antipasti type things I could eat and made a plate up. The plate was decent and came…with gluten free bread on the side. It’s a packet of two slices of plain bread not particularly nice. Too small to make a sandwich with, so I guess this was the reason why. But then don’t have the option on the sandwich menu?
The food was okay but ended up paying more for a plate of vegetables than if I was able to have the sandwich…
For normal eaters, prices much more reasonable than other places nearby and my friend...
Read moreWe ordered the bacon breakfast, it turned up unedible. Bacon and sausage seemed to have been sitting out to air for the entire month, sausage tasted vile and bacon was more like crackling. The chips were also raw.
Somehow the sloppy eggs were the best part, although we weren't asked how we wanted them cooked. When asking to change to sunny side up rather than scrambled, we were just told it would be a problem and it couldn't be done. As we are supposed to say, rather than the waiter doing his job and asking himself.
One member of staff was quite friendly, asking where we were from etc. He also offered a discount on our food as he saw we didn't eat it, which was kind considering we didn't actually say anything to him. Thats why the servicd was higher. His (what we believe to be) boss, seemed like the problem. Rude and reluctant to accept responsibility for the food.
Overall, we had a horrible experience, very overpriced for the worst food we've tasted all holiday. I would feel bad feeding this to the stray dogs, let alone...
Read moreSo wonderful we visited twice! This past fall we had the opportunity to stay and tour around Capri for a long weekend and il Gabbiano Capri Bar made it super special and tasty for us. Staying on the island was a special treat and their menu is very good with American and European options that will tantalize your breakfast pallet.
In a hurry, don't be enjoy the people watching and tours unload. About 9:00 a.m. this gets really busy because the ships start to dock and people pack the harbor, so arrive early to get a seat.
Service was excellent, friendly and fast. Both times our servers were professional, quick and spoke English. We enjoyed omelettes with salmon and several croissants, chocolate, white chocolate and pistachio. The fresh squeezed orange juice was super good and the coffee, Italian of course perfect.
Take a look at the menu, I've added it here. There's a quick cafe inside too but if you have time, I would recommend grabbing a table and enjoy yourself in...
