I recently had the pleasure of visiting Gelateria La Carraia in Florence, and I must say, it was an extraordinary ice cream experience. In fact, I can confidently say that it's the best ice cream I have ever tasted.

Upon arriving at Gelateria La Carraia, I noticed a considerable queue outside the shop. It was evident that this place was immensely popular, and I quickly understood why. Despite the length of the line, I was pleasantly surprised at how efficiently it moved. The staff at Gelateria La Carraia is undoubtedly committed to providing a seamless experience for their customers.

Now, let's talk about the star of the show: the ice cream. Gelateria La Carraia offers a wide variety of flavors, but the one that stood out the most was their white chocolate with pistachio. It's no wonder that this flavor is their most popular; the combination of smooth white chocolate and the richness of pistachio creates a harmonious and delectable blend. Each spoonful was an explosion of flavor that left me craving more.

What impressed me most was the exceptional value for money at Gelateria La Carraia. Considering the quality and taste of their ice cream, the prices were surprisingly reasonable. It's refreshing to find a place that offers such an outstanding product without breaking the bank.

Overall, Gelateria La Carraia in Florence left an indelible impression on me. From the moment I joined the queue until the moment I savored the last bite of my ice cream, I was captivated by the efficiency, flavors, and affordability of this gelateria. If you find yourself in Florence, do yourself a favor and pay a visit to Gelateria La Carraia - it's an ice cream...

The negative review is for the staff. Super rude and unapologetic. I had ordered the cup with 3 flavors costing 3 euros but she started filling the smaller cup and when I said the 3rd flavor she said only 2 are allowed. I then told her that I ordered the one with 3 flavors. She didn’t replace the cup and just added some gelato in the same cup and charged me the same amount for the bigger cup.

Also they are super rude about letting you taste and only let you taste one.

It’s Italy and you don’t expect good customer service but don’t make the customer pay for your mistakes.

Me and my partner tried 7 different flavors.

  1. orange and chocolate: best of the ones we tried. Orange peels with intense dark chocolate flavor and not overly sweet.

  2. ricotta and pear: really yummy and the combination really works. I loved it because it wasn’t overly sweet and the sweetness from the pear and saltiness from the cheese balance the flavor well.

  3. passion fruit: good passion fruit flavor and cuts the sweetness if paired with a sweeter flavor.

  4. hazelnut: nice and not too overpowering hazelnut flavor

  5. pistachio: decent pistachio flavor

  6. chocolate mousse: overly sweet and the texture isn’t right for a gelato.

7)caffe: too sweet and the flavor of coffee is very overpowering. It feels the coffee is very cheap quality.

This place doesn’t have that artisanal feel and feels more...

Gelateria La Carraia, located at Piazza Nazario Sauro, 25/r, 50124 Firenze FI, Italy, is a true gem in the heart of Florence. My experience here was nothing short of spectacular, and I can confidently say that it offers some of the best gelato I have ever tasted, earning a resounding 100 out of 100.

First and foremost, the affordability of Gelateria La Carraia is noteworthy. Despite its prime location in a city renowned for its expensive treats, this gelateria offers an array of flavors at very reasonable prices, making it an excellent choice for budget-conscious travelers.

Now, let's talk about the gelato itself – it's a true masterpiece. The selection of flavors is extensive, with both traditional classics and inventive creations. The texture is unbelievably creamy, and the taste is incredibly rich and authentic. Whether you opt for the classic stracciatella or a more daring flavor combination, each scoop is a burst of pure bliss.

What sets Gelateria La Carraia apart is not only the exceptional quality but also the passion and care that go into every serving. The staff is friendly and helpful, making the experience all the more enjoyable.

In conclusion, if you find yourself in Florence, Gelateria La Carraia is an absolute must-visit. It's an affordable treasure trove of exquisite gelato that will undoubtedly leave your taste buds...

👇4 helpful things to know if you’re traveling to Florence: ✨The T2 tramway from the airport to the city center is the easiest public transport I’ve ever taken. The stop is directly outside the airport doors (to the left) and costs less than €2. Buy the ticket on the platform, et voila - you’re on your way. ✨Going in July was the worst travel decision I’ve ever made. It was sweltering. Hit the shoulder seasons for better weather - even January was mild during the day and pleasant. ✨Renting a car to explore the region is highly recommended. I rented twice from a local company and their prices are really good - it’s called Knowleggi. Just watch out for those ZTL zones in Italy when you’re driving - I’ve been fined! (ZTL zones are areas in the center of Italian cities where traffic is restricted.) ✨Gelato is a scammy business. I once got charged €14 near Ponte Vecchio for one! Make sure prices are clearly posted. A few recs? Perché no! (reopening soon, I think) and Gelateria La Carraia. Any other key tips you’d like to add? 🙂 📌 Save this one for later! . . . . . #florence #firenze #visitflorence #piazzadelduomo #europetravel #traveltips #florencetravel #ilikeitaly
