One of the worst hospitality experiences I’ve had in Florence. I had been going to this place for several days, ordering like any normal customer. I don’t usually leave reviews because I find it pointless, but what happened yesterday made me feel genuinely bad.
The place itself leaves much to be desired, just another tourist trap with mediocre drinks. There’s supposedly live music, but it’s in a tiny, shabby room of less than 30 square meters, with speakers meant for a 400 square meter venue and busted furniture. Only solo acts or duos playing pathetic songs you’ve heard a thousand times, poorly made cocktails, and zero attention to detail. But last night was beyond embarrassing. I was sitting at one of the high tables, like in any bar in the world, when some guy who I assume was the owner or manager came over and, without even a “hello,” shoved the table away in a rude, arrogant manner. No politeness, no friendliness, no respect. He simply decided he wanted to clear the space so people could dance (and by “people,” I mean four random guests), and that was it. I understand that, but doing it that way shows a total lack of manners and basic knowledge of hospitality. They treat customers like cattle.
But the worst part came later: I ordered a gin and tonic, precisely because the other cocktails looked awful. They served it using the last bit of tonic from an already opened can (not even a fresh one for my drink, like any decent place would do). And mind you, these drinks aren’t cheap either. Serving leftovers from an open soda can is one of the tackiest things a bar can do not even the worst dive bars do that. The drink, unsurprisingly, was flat and completely undrinkable.
I politely asked if they could add more tonic by saying I didn’t mind paying for a new one. It’s not a money issue, just a question of doing things right, or at least decently. And what did this man do? He started giving me attitude, saying that “it is what it is,” then immediately snatched the glass out of my hand with a hostile gesture, like I was bothering him. Literally took it from my hand, with a sour face, no solution offered, no apology.
It’s insulting not just as a customer, but as someone who knows what it means to work in hospitality. There are many people who own bars but completely insult the profession with how they run them. I own hospitality businesses myself, and I could never serve a drink like that. The least you can do is act with basic decency.
Because this isn’t hospitality. This is a tacky, careless spot for clueless tourists, run by someone who clearly has no idea what the word “service” even means. No hospitality, no elegance, no respect. Just arrogance, rudeness, and badly served drinks.
I hope this review helps others avoid wasting their time...
Read moreWe were looking for a good live music bar after dinner and came across NOF. Although we arrived around 7:30 PM since we are early birds and found out that the live music doesn’t start until 10:00 PM, we were the first at the bar but decided to stay to see the hype.
Service: The service was excellent. They offered olives and chips with our drinks and the lady was very attentive, constantly refilling when needed. Once the music started, it became self-service, and you pay at the counter when ordering, as the place fills up quickly.
Vibe: The atmosphere had a great vibe, really enjoyable overall. We met some other travelers as well and had a great night out!
Marco and the band played nice Italian songs, The only suggestion would be to include at least one English song and to start the music little soon as they managed to start around 22:20hrs due to some...
