We enjoyed the garden, it seems well cared for (as well as any in the UK where we are from.) The plant varieties were mostly well labelled. We came to see the collection of citruses which are very well labelled. They are in pots and go inside the greenhouses in winter but we visited in September so they were organised outside. It was fascinating to see the varieties especially poncirus trifoliata in person. It was the end of the season so some displays were over - wildflower meadow has been mown, annual vegetables mostly seem to be missing from the specialised display but there was still plenty to look at. I would be very interested to see it in winter. It would have been 5 stars but like others have mentioned they aren’t happy if you arrive an hour before closing. We were followed from afar by one of the employees for the last 20 minutes of our visit which I found incredibly strange. We are adults in our 30s and quite capable of managing our time - we both were wearing watches. At one point she shouted in Italian that a part of the garden was off limits (?) when it doesn’t appear to be signposted as out of bounds. We left with 10 minutes to spare - intentionally, we’d planned to visit the gift shop. I would recommend going there but don’t visit near closing unless you have no choice. Sadly we arrived late due to the train strikes and are going home on Tuesday morning - as it’s closed on Monday this was our...
Read moreAbsolutely awful. Not botanical at all. Was as dead as a wildebeest carcass. Sure it only cost €3 but wasn't worth a penny of it. Literally nothing to see other than shrubs and grass. I thoroughly enjoyed eating a tomato from the edible garden out of revenge whilst reading the leaflet saying 'please do not eat any fruit from the gardens', this however didn't feel like Adam picking fruit from the garden of Eden, but more like from the garden of my mother-in-law.
However the worst part of the experience happened before I even entered the woeful gardens where I paid 60 cents for a bottle of water from the vending machine but the bottle got stuck! When I asked for the lady to open the machine and give it to me, she told me to put in another 60 cents so I would get 2 bottles. Of course only one bottle came out and I therefore asked for a 60 cents refund, but she refused and then started lying by saying that she can't give me any money as she doesn't own the machine blah blah blah. I couldn't quite believe just how evil she was behaving. All in all I would have rather spent the €3.60 wasted on the entry fee and non-existent bottle of water on a selfie stick from one of the African immigrants just...
Read moreA silent place not far from the heart of Florence) This botanical garden is small but you feel calm and relaxed here. Enjoy your time observing alleys with giant trees, funny palms and wonderful colourful azalea bushes. There are zones for a quiet walk and reading. Some zones look long neglected but there is an amazing greenhouse which gives you a lot of pleasure even if you visit it in November or December) Fantastic citrus trees in this botanical garden are my love. If you decide to visit Florence in late autumn, you will see ripe fruits on orange, lemon and tangerine trees. One significant detail needs to be mentioned. A botanical garden has a quite strange closing time. It's too early for me. That's why it's important to ask beforehand. Moreover, the local government charged an entrance fee for visitors. Anyway, a botanical garden can help you to relax and get distracted from...
