The academy of fine arts could also be called the Michael Angelo museum because most of the art in there he made . We purchased the tickets from home and good thing we did ,the line to get in was around the block . When we arrived at the gate to validate our tickets there was a lot of commotion and some yelling and screaming . The people in front of us purchased tickets but didn't have proper identification to be accepted entrance . It appeared they purchased tickets for youth and their identification didn't support that. When we made it to ticket counter she asked the ages of our kids and I provided her with school id and passports . We were granted immediate access and it was well worth it ! The statue of David was remarkable as was the museum . If u make it to Florence u have to make it to this museum . It...

The David of Michelangelo is here so there is a lot of people wanting to get in but they are terribly organized, we bought tickets for 1:45 and arrived earlier and they did not let us in until 2:15! You have to be in line for a long time and give you no explanation. The ticket is €12 euro and is worth it because of the pieces but all the tickets are sold out most of the times because the people from the inside give the tickets to the local guides so they can sell them...

The statue of David is certainly the main attraction and is worth the visit to Florence for that viewing itself as this statue is a treasure of mankind. However, there are other unfinished works of Michelangelo in the hall leading to the David which are referred to as the prisoners - locked in the marble as incomplete works. Michelangelo's technique of sculpting from the front to back gives the sense that the image is almost breaking free of the marble...

Some of the most famous art on the planet resides here, and when you see it in person, it will change you for life. Just incredible works abound here. You'll need to reserve tics in advance with an entry time as well, and plan on coming early or late to avoid the crowds. We reserved @ 545 pm and we closed the place down, which allowed us to view Michangelos "David" without a crowd. I had him to myself! This Museum is a must visit while in Florence!

Beautiful space filled with Renaissance art and the world renowned sculpture by Michelangelo, The David. Buy tickets in advance and expect crowds. We went early in the morning and people were already waiting to get in. The wait was brief and completely worth it to see such beautiful Masterpieces. They have a good size souvenir shop.
