This monument was erected in 1935 to commemorate the soldiers from Trieste who fell during World War I. The bronze sculpture was created by Attilio Selva, while the white Istrian stone pedestal was designed by Enrico Del Debbio. The sculpture features three soldiers supporting a wounded comrade, with a fifth figure raising a round shield to protect them—symbolizing brotherhood, sacrifice, and protection.
