Cinema Nazionale — Attraction in Turin

This place has such a great vibe. Compared to other cinemas in Turin, they show a surprisingly large number of films in English, which I truly appreciate.

When I went to see the new Wes Anderson movie, there were only three of us in the theater—me and two old gentlemen who chuckled at all the funny moments. It was adorable. When cinemas are crowded, people often hold back their laughs, so I personally love quieter cinemas like this one.

The seats are comfy, although there’s no cup holder. As for snacks, I don’t think there’s a proper bar or counter—at least I haven’t seen one the three times I’ve been—but they do have a vending machine.

The whole place is spotless. The atmosphere is thoughtfully curated, with awesome posters on the walls. The location is tucked away in a little side street, so it really feels like discovering a hidden gem in Turin.

When you walk out of a screening, you find yourself in a calm square where people are casually hanging out, sipping drinks and relaxing. You can sit on a bench and just reflect on the film. It really completes the whole movie experience.

Very good movie theater, located in a very convenient position in downtown Torino, right besides the delightful piazza Bodoni, elegant and refined with its decorations and its evening lights, its convenient underground parking, and many restaurants, pizzerias and pubs in the immediate surroundings. The cinema itself has two screening rooms, which are not huge but large enough to host all the people who come to watch the most recent movies in town. The seats are not the usual cinema chairs with a folding seat, but real padded armchairs, very comfortable even though they have a fixed...

Storico cinema d'essai meravigliosamente riammodernato.

Il cinema Nazionale fa parte di quel cerchio di cinema d'essai di riferimento a Torino da innumerevoli decadi. Con una grande scommessa (di cui sono capaci gli imprenditori più illuminati) Lorenzo Ventavoli ha completamente ristrutturato quest'estate (nonostante i tempi di Covid e la crisi del settore) il suo storico cinema Nazionale in via Pomba. Accanto alla splendida piazza Bodoni e alla sede del conservatorio Giuseppe Verdi di Torino sorge da tempo questo intramontabile cinema d'essai. La ristrutturazione avvenuta pochi mesi or sono è superba. Da piccolo cinema il Nazionale è divenuto un cinema d'essai al passo coi tempi. Le sale sono grandi, ottimamente insonorizzate con Dolby 7. Le poltrone, comodissime e molto distanti fra loro, ricordano poltrone d'arredamento e la loro seduta è tutta da provare. Bagni perfetti è immacolati. Come sempre la programmazione rispetta il miglior cinema d'autore. Ho appena goduto di quel piccolo gioiello che è "Living" e sono pienamente soddisfatto. La sensazione è quella di recarsi al cinema di una volta con tutte le comodità dei multisala più moderni. Complimenti all'ottimo lavoro e lunga vita all'arte del cinema e dell'andare al cinema.
