This Baroque church is dedicated to Eustace who according to legend lived in the 2nd century and refused to worship pagan gods. Convicted to be burnt alive inside a brazen bull (a torture device: a convict would be placed inside a metall bull held above a fire untill steamed to death). A rather bloody story, but very popular during the late Middle Ages when this 11th century church was founded.

Read moreSituada al borde del Gran Canal, su magnífica fachada barroca, obra de 1709 de Domenico Rossi, se caracteriza por una profusa decoración a la que han contribuido varios escultores. Su interior, con una sola nave y tres capillas a cada lado, denota una clara reminiscencia palladiana; en el centro de la nave una gran lápida nos señala la sepultura de la familia Mocenigo. Aunque las capillas laterales exhiben grandes obras, las más importantes se encuentran en la sacristía y, sobre todo, en el presbiterio. En éste encontramos El Martirio de San Bartolomé, obra temprana de Tiepolo, así como otras obras de Piazzetta y Sebastiano Ricci. En la sacristía destacan obras de Pittoni y Litterini. No es una de las iglesias más conocidas de la ciudad, pero si disponemos de tiempo, merece la pena hacerle una visita. Horario de apertura: de lunes a sábado, de 10.00 a 17.00 horas. Cierra los domingos. El precio de entrada es 3 € adultos y 1,50 € billete reducido.
