Arrived by a private water taxi which was fabulous, straight to the hotels jetty.||We stayed for 3 nights from 5th to 8th May.|I had booked 2 rooms for the 3 of us 1 double & 1 superior double room. |Upon arrival late in the evening & we were checked in & shown to our rooms by a friendly young gentleman, we were located on the ground floor directly across from the bar area, from realising this we raised concerns about the noise being near the bar but we were rest assured that there would be no noise & that he was closing the bar at 10pm. ||We went for breakfast on our 1st morning but the small breakfast room was full so we had a wait of about 10mins until a table became free, breakfast was good, the lovely ladies brought you your hot drinks & you just help yourself to everything else, delicious pastries & lovely coffee. ||On Tuesday having walked miles & miles we just wanted to relax before we went out for the evening for our evening meal. This is where our troubles started during our stay. We had no electricity working for the whole of the room ,we could have the bathroom lights on to get ready but the socket by the bedside to charge up our phones wouldn’t work. So was able to have either the lights of the sockets which questioned how safe it was to be in our room.|The gentleman on duty on reception wasn’t able to do anything, he called an electrician whom told him to try something but that didn’t work, he was going to move us to a room on the 2nd floor but it wasn’t the equivalent room of what we had paid for, the room did not have a view of the canal like we had in this room so we refused to move and this would mean packing up and moving all our belongings to a room directly across from the breakfast room which would incur noise issues in a morning so wouldnt be any fair reflection of a room switch.|My husband was having to mess about with the fuse box to enable us to use the different plug sockets.||We was told the electrician would be here the next morning to fix this whilst we we out for the day. Apparently it’s due to the humidity with all the rain ??? We were also offered a free mini bar(there was no alcohol in ours) all soft drinks in ours after mentioning this it was replenished & a 50% discount on our room for that night. This was great however, upon checkout, we were asking for proof to take to our travel agent so they could claim this money back or pay us the money. Instead a heated exchange happened where the hotel refused to provide any proof of discount of refund offering so we have come back to the U.K. over 2 weeks now & we are still waiting for that refund. ||The shower leaked after every use we needed to put towels down after every use,(see photos)we mentioned this to reception but nothing was done about it, tea & milk was not replenished every day by housekeeping.|On our last evening we were kept awake by people still in the bar at 11:45pm, this was extremely inconsiderate of other guests rooms across and the reception staff member had no care when we complained over the phone. My son did come out of his room to see what all the noise was about as this was totally unacceptable at this time, apparently the young man in charge couldn’t get the guests to leave.||From no electricity, to no mini bar, no discount offering on return after our holiday where the money would be with the hotel now, noise issues we was told wouldn’t be an issue, no real housekeeping quality. This is a hotel I would really raise questions over.||To provide further details on the checkout situation, Fabio would not give me the 50% discount for the night we had the electrical problem he said this would have to be done through my travel agent as I had booked a package and not directly through them, Fabio assured me the travel company would be notified, with it now being the 26th of May and I still do not have this refund or haven’t heard anything regarding this. My travel agent says that this should have been refunded back onto my card on checking out but Fabio said he was unable to do this as we would know how much they charge for the room.|This has put a real downer on the stay, a hotel delivering on false pretences. This is absolute rubbish I am told by my travel agent that doesn’t matter he should have done this on checking out. Would we visit Venice again yes absolutely beautiful, but definitely would not stay here, yes problems arise but should be delt with efficiently & professionally,it’s disgusting that we are still waiting to hear about...
Read moreI was so excited to book this place for a night after five days of trekking in the Dolomites before I had to return home after 2 weeks in Italy. From all the reviews and the photos it looked like the perfect place to end my time in Italy. Yes, it was beautiful and decorated beautifully throughout Murano glass and tile floors but it fell short on service. When I arrived around 12:30 PM, I was not anticipating being able to get into my room but had planned to drop my luggage to enjoy a little more time in Venice before check in. I was only staying for one night as this was the end of my time in Italy and needed a buffer day before my flight home and traveling from Cortina. When booking online, I was able to book one night that also included breakfast and a welcome drink several months in advance. It is tucked away in a quiet part of Venice a few minutes walk from the Rialto bridge and market area. It seemed the perfect place to stay in order to escape the crowds but not too far off the beaten path. I had not expected my room to be ready but the gentleman checking me in made me feel like I was an imposition. When I asked about the welcome drink (as this was not mentioned at all during the check in process), I was told I just needed to go to the bar and give them my room number at any time. My room turned out to be ready and I was quickly handed off to the bellman without any further discussion. After freshening up in their luxurious double room with a stunning view of the canal I decided to go down to the bar for my welcome drink. There was no one at the bar and after waiting several minutes in the lobby, I asked the same person that checked me in if the bar was open. He seemed very irritated and I was told the person who works the bar was getting a guest into their room and would return in a moment. When the bellman (who was the same person that brought my luggage to the room) there was quite a bit of confusion as he had no idea what I was referring to regarding a “welcome drink”. I asked for an aperol spritz as I wasn't quite sure what it entailed either, but he was not sure why I didn't need to pay. Ultimately he went out and asked the check in person and I was advised I could have a glass of prosecco. The bellman had no idea where this was located in the bar, but I saw it in the fridge and ultimately I had to open it for him as he was not able to figure out how to get the top off. He did pour it into a wine glass for me though. At this point I was doubting my decision staying at this hotel as I had an amazing time my first 4 nights in Venice before my trek on the other side of Venice at Hotel Bucintoro. The person that worked the night shift at the front desk was much nicer and I appreciated his assistance with letting me know where the closest pharmacy was to purchase bandages. He also assisted with setting up my water taxi transfer back to the airport for the next day. The bed was way too soft for me. After about an hour in the bed my back was more sore than it had been all 5 days of hiking. Most European beds are firm but this was the complete opposite with a super soft cushion topper that you sink into but not in a good way. I much prefer a firmer bed though. The breakfast was good with both hot and cold options. All in all this was a beautiful hotel nestled in a quiet more residential area of Venice with its own boat dock access for water taxis. However my initial impression was soured by the staff member that was on duty when I arrived and compared to Hotel Bucintoro it paled...
Read moreWhat a wonderful stay we had! Myself, mother in law and daughter stayed for 3 nights over Easter Weekend. Prior to our stay my mother in law had contacted the hotel a few times to ask questions regarding to local area and amenities to help her plan a itinerary, she got prompt polite replies which were very helpful. On our arrival we were greeted by a helpful and welcoming reception staff member, whom recommended local authentic Italian restaurants and answered questions we had. We were also offered drinks on the terrace overlooking the canal, which were very nice and reasonably in price. Our room was over looking the inner court yard on the 3rd floor. The last set of stairs were steep and I would recommend anyone with walking difficulties request a lower level. The room was very elegant and comfortable, the bathroom modern, spacious and clean. The only negative I have is that we only had 2 glasses and 2 cups between the 3 of us. The mini bar was also really reasonable just 3.50 euros for a small bottle of Prosecco. The beds were made daily and the beds were comfortable and the room was cosy and quiet. Everytime we walked through reception were were greeted politely and Recep staff were happy to help with anything we asked including making a reservation for us at a sister restaurant to the one they'd recommended on our arrival. We tried 2 out of 5 pf the places recommended and we were so impressed! Delicious food and extremely reasonable prices. The hotel was in an excellent location on the quieter end of the Grande Canal, we really enjoyed the quiet back streets and restaurants near the hotel and walks to the main tourist attractions. The vaporetto (water bus) stop was also very close by. The breakfast at the hotel was very nice too, with a great selection of freshly prepared pasteries. I would highly recommend this hotel as a fabulous place to...
