Funny story about this place. On the second night I was in Venice, me and a few other solo travels staying at the place I was at told me that apparently this place was known for their cannolis. We went there that night and they were indeed phenomenal. Granted this was only my second night here so I certainly didn’t declare this as the best cannoli I’ve had in Venice. Fast forward nearly four weeks (yes, I’ve been for that long) and still tried to find an overall go to favourite restaurant and indeed, best cannoli. Long story short, this is it, and now ready to say one of the best all round restaurants I’ve found in Venice. First off, if you’re looking for a hidden, out of the hustle and bustle tourist trap restaurants of Venice, this should be at the top of your list. Small place, small menu and what they do they do very well. Which brings me to the cannolis. Hands down the best, freshest cannolis I found. They they’re made to order and certainly worth every second of the wait. Never came across any other restaurant that does this. When I first went here, we navigated to it at night and on somebody else’s phone, so I had no idea where it was or what it was even called and I’ve literally been spending the past few weeks trying to find it again and lo and behold, on my second to last day here, I finally found it. Once again had a phenomenal meal, phenomenal cannoli and even sat with the owner Marco and told him this very story and talked about our family lineage and how he was passed down the cannoli recipe from his Sicilian mother and all about the restaurant, Venice and indeed the cannolis. This alone was one of the highlights of my trip here. Grazie mille ancora Marco and I hope as many other people are possible see this and...

There are many things that make a restaurant unforgettable. Sometimes it’s the service. Sometimes it’s the owner. Sometimes it’s the atmosphere. Most of the time, though, it’s the food! Every now and then, however, you happen to find a place that is unforgettable because of the service, the owner, the atmosphere, and the food, and this was the case with Bacarretto! A quaint little restaurant in the heart of Venice, Bacarretto is the very definition of “hidden gem”! When we arrived, we were greeted by Marco, the owner. He was absolutely delightful! We spent quite a bit of time talking about food, and he was a very nice, interesting, and knowledgeable guy! He started us by telling us that he served Sicilian cuisine, which is a little different from everyday Italian cuisine. We already knew this, but it was very considerate of him to tell us, in case we were expecting traditional Italian food. We started off with some caponata di Melanzane, polpette (meatballs), and an assortment of fried Sicilian delicacies. (Various arancini, and some other delicious munchies). We then had fresh pasta with sardines, olive oil, and cherry tomatoes, and pasta al forno (baked pasta with meat sauce and peas.). We finished our meal with homemade cannolis and marzipan cake. Everything was absolutely phenomenal! I highly recommend checking this place out if you’re in Venice! It’s like taking a day trip to Sicily without the plane ride! Absolutely...

I had dinner in this restaurant around December of 2022. I had the best ever experience, not only in all of Venice but in all of the world. It is a family-owned restaurant. I talked to the owner, who was very caring for all of his customers. He transmitted to my partner and I his vibrant passion for the Sicilian cuisine which I could finally appreciate on the delicious food provided to us.

I come from Spain, but Italian cuisine as well as most of the Mediterranean cuisine, are very dear to my heart. Every bite brought me back memories from my childhood and the traditional food that my grandma would cook. There is something about grandmas food that one cannot forget so easily. Truly delicious, I can’t complaint about it. They have all of my respect.

It was truly an unforgettable experience from the first step you make inside this restaurant until you leave. The owner as well as the staff gave my partner and I the best service of our entire lives. When we were leaving, the owner accompanied us to the door and shakes our hands. He is also very open minded. Apart from Italian, he also speaks English and Spanish very well (I’m not sure if he knows of more language than this) which made us feel very welcomed.

Thank you very much for the unforgettable experience. I will never forget this. This is not only food that you’re providing, but also the passion, love, thoughtfulness and happiness that you put into it....
