Hiroshima Prefectural Citizen's Culture Center — Attraction in Hiroshima

We had a great time watching two Kagura performances at this cultural centre. They take place on Wednesday evenings across the summer. The shows were dramatic, the dancing entertaining and the costumes incredibly colourful and elaborate. Tickets are on sale for 1,000 yen at the venue from 5pm and doors open at 6pm. The first show doesn't start until 7pm but as the seats are unreserved lots of people do go in at 6pm to ensure a good view / camera angle. The shows both last about 45 minutes with a 15 minute break between the end of the first show and the second starting at 8pm. You can also stay after the second show to take a closer look at the costumes and for further photo opportunities. Was lucky to watch Kagura performances during my stay at Hiroshima. The students performed well. The entrance fee was around Yen 1000. No reservations required. At the end of the show, you can take pictures with the performers. Flash photography is not allowed. The show normally starts in the evening. The staff are very friendly. One can get the details of next Kagura performances from them. The entire episode will be in Japanese, but a brief description will be given in English at the beginning and pamphlet will be distributed which explains about the show in English. So, it's easy...

My girlfriend and I popped in to see a Kagura performance, which was a very special treat. If you’re in Hiroshima on a Wednesday evening, you can line up an hour before the show starts for unreserved tickets (our seats were perfect despite being unreserved!). Subtitle screens are also located on either side of the stage for English speakers. It was great fun watching the dancers perform mesmerizing movements to bring an eight-headed folktale dragon to life, and the live music was amazing! Maybe I wish it...
