Beautiful! If you are using the map, here you have number 1(Koto!Lantern),2( Karasaki Pine )and 3 (Kasumigaike Pond:in 1837 this pond's area was expanded to 5,800m. The center island represents the legendary island of perpetual youth and longevity. It has a tortoise shell shape so it is also called the tortoise shelled island). The Panoramic View Point (Panoramic Lookout) was here too. You have 2 benches to sit by the panoramic view.

I found the watercourse in this garden interesting(Incase you missed it): it’s worth noting that the watercourses that you see in the garden contribute to one of the six elements that makes this garden stand out .

How did Watercourses come about(in case you missed it)? Thanks to the Tatsumi water channel, which still you exists today. A large fire prompted Toshitsune, the third lord of the domain, to build the Tatsumi water channel in 1632 as a water source for Kanazawa Castle's fire prevention and to fill the moat. In order to bring water up to the castle (altitude 50m), a tunnel and open channel were built from 11 km upstream of the Sai River, along the slope of the plateau, and the water was drawn in. The Tatsumi water channel still flows through a tunnel remaining since the Edo period bringing clean water to Kenrokuen garden, Kanazawa Castle, and the city...

Such a beautiful garden and this pond in particular was breathtaking. I was able to snap a ton of great photos here. The reflections on the pond were nice, as were the 5 massive bonsai trees throughout the park. We even saw a free ygritte's flying around. Even with the tourist crowds, it did not feel very...

I visited Kenrokuen Garden in Kanazawa, one of Japan’s Three Great Gardens. With ponds, streams, teahouses, and seasonal beauty, it’s breathtaking year-round. Highlights include the iconic Kotoji Lantern and the winter yukitsuri, a snow-protection technique that looks like art. It’s the perfect place to enjoy nature, tradition, and a peaceful cup of matcha...
