Kenrokutei — Restaurant in Kanazawa

I spent a very unpleasant 3 minutes at this place, there was a bench outside it, written there was you needed to order something to sit at the seats, there are a few tables with seats so of course I wouldn't sit there but I did sit on the bench. Withing seconds an angry staff member came and told me to get away, I explained I am sitting on the bench, not seats, however, a minute later another staff member came and chased me away! If I were to sit on this place to drink the VERY EXPENSIVE coffee I would be outraged. There are many better cafes in the gardens with better views and attitudes of staff members, don't waste your money...

Our guide from Magical Tours brought us to this spot in Kenrokuen Garden for lunch and it was a nice experience. We had the jibu-ni set meal (traditional Kanazawa dish). It was simple and healthy and flavorful. I liked the lunch. I think the Jibu-ni set was around ¥3000.

The restaurant itself is in a great location. The counter area is overlooking the garden so it was nice to enjoy the atmosphere while eating. Definitely a good spot for a relaxed lunch if...

This was a beautiful and special breakfast experience in the gardens. Getting to sit and look at the garden while drinking my matcha latte in the morning was one of my favorite experiences on my trip. There was an english menu with two options for breakfast - a sandwich or a bowl of boiled veg. I got the latter and it wasn't quite to my tastes as a foreigner, but I would still love to go back and try...
