The teahouse is beautiful and set in a lovely location. However, during our visit/participation in the tea experience, almost everything was conducted in Japanese. The only communication that was translated, was "no video" or "no pictures", and even that information was contradictory.

I completely understand that not everyone speaks English or other languages besides their native one, but this experience was also advertised to English-speaking tourists (for instance, the reservation form and menu were in English). Therefore, I think it’s only reasonable to expect that an English version of the explanations is provided as well —if not verbally, then at least in the form of e.g. a flyer. While I recognize that the experience is quite affordable, I still felt disappointed, as we missed out on all the information that was shared with the Japanese guests. It’s also not a pleasant feeling to suddenly see everyone leave the room and not know why, because the instructions were given only...

This is a traditional tea house in the beautiful Kenroku-en gardens in Kanazawa. They serve matcha and wagashi ( a sweet you eat with tea) as well as green tea. About 750 yen which is normal. However, the way the tea was served was different. I went early in the morning when it was quiet and I didn't quite understand what was happening at first. You enter and pay for your tea, then you are directed to the waiting room. And you wait. Admire the view, and wonder where your tea is. Turns out, they serve tea to groups of people so once there are about 8-10 people you move to another room and then are served tea all together. I would 100% recommend this but not if you have any time constraints. It doesn't take long but you will probably be there around...

You can enjoy traditional matcha and wagashi while enjoying the gardens at an affordable price. There is only two items on the menu, powder green tea set and the non powder green tea set. After consuming the food, the staff will open the shoji doors and reveal the garden for viewing. Overall experience has been wonderful and totally don't mind doing it again. Just need to take note that they only allow a certain number of customer inside at a single time, if it is full, the staff will indicate the next time slot. Make sure to take note of the timing and plan in advance (no booking required -...
