Got takeout for lunch after taking a tour of the Kanazawa Castle grounds. Conveniently located right next to the park, in a nice street perfect for walking and looking at some of the shops in the area.
We got the gold leaf french fries, beef croquette, and fried chicken, and my partner got a yuzu-nade to drink. The food was all very good! The fries were thick and potatoey, which I throughly enjoyed, and were clearly fresh because as I was eating them the steam filled my mouth in a very satisfying way. The beef croquette was good, though I wish it had a bit more beef flavor. The chicken was exceptionally juicy, with a delicious and crispy outer crust. My girlfriend’s drink was also very nice and refreshing, though maybe a bit sweeter than the juices we are used to.
All in all a great way to get a delicious and affordable (though it was a bit more expensive than we have gotten used to while eating in Japan) bite right outside...
Read moreWe came here after a long and sweaty stroll through Kanazawa Castle Park for take out. The host was nice and the food came out quickly. The yuzu-nade was really tasty and refreshing!! (Too sweet for me I think, but I noticed I think all the drinks here in Japan have been too sweet for me). The fried chicken came with a lot lot of pieces and was really nice and crunchy and juicy. The gold leaf fries were really large, soft chunks of potato and for me, only some had a nice salty coating (but the gold leaf is cool). My partner got a beef croquette and it had a nice texture, though I think he wished the beef was more plentiful/stronger. The food was super hot (in temperature)! It was the most expensive meal per item we have gotten in Japan, but still cheap compared to the U.S. Good place for takeout after...
Read moreI had a decent meal at 和食と和カフェ さくら茶屋. The food was enjoyable, but I would like to mention a couple of points for both the owner and future customers.
First, the food took a little time to be prepared, but we were not in a hurry, so it wasn’t an issue for us. However, I did notice a group of six foreign customers who were clearly in a rush. After waiting for about 20 minutes without their food, they left, which made me feel uncomfortable as a fellow foreigner. I understand now why some restaurants in Japan display signs like “Japanese Only.”
For the owner, I suggest having a card or note explaining that the food takes time to prepare. If someone is in a rush, they should consider going to a fast-food place like McDonald’s instead. To future customers, especially those in groups with limited time: the restaurant isn’t responsible for your time constraints, so please plan accordingly.
I hope more customers will see my review and be more mindful.
